I started adding strength training into my routine on top of my 40 minutes of cardio six days a week. I lost 1.5 inches off my waist and 1 inch of my hips but I gained 2 pounds. Is this because I am gaining muscle weight not fat?

Could be...I learned that if you want a true measure of your "loss" progress, measurements work best because muscle is so much denser, it takes less muscle to weigh equal to fat, so losing fat and gaining muscle can balance out the scale but shows with the measuring tape.0

When I first started lifting weights my muscles retained water. Most likely this is the problem if your diet has been spot on otherwise. It always went away within 2 weeks though so you should be back down to normal in no time.0
