Same weight/height - different clothing sizes

This may be a dumb question, but I am just curious how you could be the same weight / height / gender as someone and be completely different clothing sizes. I am 5'3" currently 184 size 10/12 (SW 206 size 12/14). I have heard women on here as me varying anywhere from a size 10-20. Just curious why that is? Maybe it's just a difference of brands?

:) thanks for the input

Different women carry their weight in different places. Someone with wider hips could still be the same weight as someone with narrow hips but a larger stomach.

There's a great site where you say search for pictures of women at different heights/weights, and it's amazing how much variation there is!

I am 5'4" and weigh 204 lbs. I am a size 18. The lowest I have been in a long time was 187 a few years ago and I was still a size 18. I haven't been below an 18 in years. I see people who weigh more than me and they are size 16, and I dont get it either.

Thanks girls! I tried that website - I like it a lot! It really is interesting to see how much variation there is in size for one weight. I guess I will never fully get it lol. Oh well - we are all our own people!

Muscle weighs more than fat so body composition can affect the weight to size ratio, also the fact that people distribute weight differently affects what size they will wear. Someone who is 250 with the weight evenly distributed will likely wear a smaller size than someone who carries all of their excess weight in their abdomen. Someone at 250 with more muscle mass will likely wear a smaller size than someone with less muscle mass of the same weight.
