Out For Breakfast

I'm not one to eat out, but my aunt is in town for the day and is arranging a breakfast date. The place we are going to is individually owned and does not offer a calorie menu. Any ideas on safe options for breakfast (besides cereal) with an estimated calorie amount?

How about munch on something healthy now to curve your appetite and at the restaurant get fruit. Once you leave the restaurant, fix your usual healthy breakfast meal.

What about a veggie omelet with a side of fruit? You can ask if they can make it with egg whites, but even if they don't, it's a great source of protein and low in calories. Just hold the cheese! :)

I would eat the usual breakfast at home and at the restaurant, just have coffee. The fruit is a great idea too. It's not a big deal if people inquire -- "Oh, I eat breakfast early, so I am just going to have some coffee and fruit." Good luck.

Poached eggs, english muffin and tomato slices, maybe add some fruit. Or oatmeal with fruit. I think breakfast is one of the easiest to figure calories on your own. Of course you don't always know the fat content when items are cooked, which is why poached eggs is safe in that regards, most are done in just water.

I would avoid the breakfast meats, unless they have the turkey substitutes. A couple of scrambled eggs and some whole wheat toast maybe. a good option. on average should be less than 400 calories.

Eggs and bacon. Hell, I even eat it for a late night snack!

Eggs are about 70 calories a piece. Although at a restaurant are likely cooked in butter so take those calories into account too.
2 slices of toast is usually around 170-200 calories. Jam packets are usually about 50 calories each and the peanut butter packets usually 100-120.
A side of fruit would likely be 50 calories or less.
If you want meat with your breakfast ham is lower calorie than bacon or sausage....(but not as delicious imo)

I find it easier to keep my calories in check at breakfast than when I go out for lunch/dinner. Unless I get hashbrowns.....and I always do.
