I hate looking in the mirror and thinking I look pretty cute today, snap a pic and think omg Im hideous! LOL I dont know what the deal is but one of them is a liar!0

Photos compress 3 dimensions into 2, and unless the photographer is skilled and the lighting conditions are good, depth doesn't get captured very well -- that's why they say the camera adds 10 lb. It's also why movie stars pose in very specific ways/angles to try to accentuate the narrower planes of their bodies.
The mirror technically does the same thing, but movement helps our brains remember that there's depth there!
I am happier with what I see in the mirror, since that's what everyone around me will see.
Such a great answer! Love this!0 -
I am not photogenic. .. I end up making all sorts of weird faces and crazy eyes and yikes it's not good.
Same, I have a bad eye I'm very conscious of. I always make silly faces in photos so I can look bad on my own terms!0 -
On a side note... does anybody ever feel horrible after trying things on in a shop? The changing room lighting and mirrors always make me look really awful, a lot of the time it discourages me from buying the outfit!
I get this a lot... like really this could have come straight from my mouth.... I've lost over 20lbs and STILL didn't like how the bikini looked on me
Agghh! I know how you feel! No matter how good I feel about myself (beforehand), when I'm in a change room, my self esteem drops like crazy. It's even worse when the clothes don't fit...0 -
I'm 100% with you OP. I still have more to lose, but with 55 pounds down and in much better shape, I'm loving the mirror. Then I see a photo and while I see progress, I don't see as much as in the mirror and it can leave me in a funk.0

I hear ya. My penis always looks smaller in photos. That's why I always take a picture of it next to a nickel so it looks bigger.0

Yep, got tagged in THE least flattering photo I've ever seen of myself in my life, it was from a bad angle, everything was off, it was late in the night, the lighting was horrendous, I was mid-speaking, my eyes were half-closed....train wreck and it genuinely derailed me for two days afterwards. On the upside it gave me a kick up the butt, I'm cleaning up my diet completely this week. That ought to do it!0

I think photos tell you the truth, because in front of the mirror it's easier to choose the angle from which you look best, you already know the lighting and everything.. In a photo you never know the outcome.
And I'm not good at taking photos, I never know what to do with my face and my body.0 -
I don't feel like I photograph well, so def mirrors for me. I hate the way I look in pictures.0

The photos, I went to a wedding a few years back, when I was a bit smaller, the dress was smaller, everything was smaller, however the photo showed my fat arms and cellulite butt through the dress.....hence weight training now to tone my arms...
Photo shows the truth all the time0
