Hey guys! So I normally don't post on the forums much, sort of a creeper and just look at all the success stories for inspiration, but I thought I'd post something I'm extremely proud of!
So I ran track in my middle school years, but then stopped when the stress of high school/getting into college/life stepped in. Now that I'm trying to tone up, I started trying to run again ... and couldn't go farther than 5-10 minutes at a VERY slow jog. I ran a 5k before! The whole thing! So not being able to go for any amount of time made me aware of just how out of shape I was.
I've managed to get back up to running 2 miles within the past 2 months, a feat I was really proud of. But the big news: I signed up for a 5k yesterday, the Color Mania walk/run that's scheduled for April 6. It's a walk/run, so I thought I would try my best, but worst case scenario, it's not timed (though I'll probably time myself).
Yesterday, after signing up, I decided to see just how far I could go, to see just how much I'd have to get better to be able to run the whole 5k. And I ran 4 miles. About a 13min mile, so definitely slogging it, but I didn't stop! Now all I have to do is work on running a bit faster, and I'll be kicking that 5k's butt! Next I'll be trying for 8 and 10ks!
