Question on my weight loss journey!

Hey guys,
From October 2012 i decided i wanted to change my life and begin to be healthier and along the way lose weight. Since then i have lost about 19 pounds and 4 inches off my waist. My starting weight was 196 lbs and I currently weigh 177 lbs.
I look at pictures of how i looked back in July and i do look different. I mean i just wish i could have lost more fat on my arms and waist (not that I'm going to stop my weight loss journey). So in total I have been eating better and exercising for about 5-6 months and like i said above i have only lost 19 pounds.
Do you guys think I am losing weight kind of slow? What can i do to boost my weight loss even more? Should i stop eating something in general? Take into consideration that i do weight training, running, walking, and try to eat healthier eating regular within my caloric limits. I do try to make better choices though. Let me know your thoughts and maybe if there are people out there like me =D

It sounds like you are losing about 3 pounds a month. That is about what I am losing. I know it seems too slow, but it will get you to your goal.
Eating healthy and exercising is the way to go and you are setting habits for the rest of your life. You are doing fine.0 -
Sounds like you are doing good. If you open your diary we can make suggestions of where to improve. Also, what do you do for your weight training program? Reps/weights?0

You're only going for a 16 pound weight loss according to your ticker. If that's the case, then slow is fine.0

Depending on your height, you aren't *that* overweight to begin with. The heavier a person is, the faster they tend to drop weight up until a certain point. I'm thinking because you aren't 250-300+ pounds, you're just going to lose more slowly (if that makes sense). I'm not an expert, but this is just my guess.0

As for my usual workout It goes like this...
Monday- shoulders, chest, biceps( heaviest i lift doing bench is 135)Run 1-2 miles @ home I do turbo fire
Tuesday- legs everything attached to my leg kind of workouts(heaviest was 180 lbs squats in machine of course) 1 mile and turbo fire at home.
Wednesday-back and abs workouts, run a mile out two however I feel. No turbo today.
Thursday-No gym, I just do turbo fire at home.
Friday- maybe gym will try to run 3 miles, and turbo fire at home.
Saturday-gym will do some weights, run mostly
Nothing Sunday.
Reps will be 3-5 depending on what I'm doing, each ranging from 8-15 times depending on the weight.
My diary is open, I just checked it. Let me know anything else you would like to know.
I have my weight loss set to 170 because I'm working with small number to get motivated. :-)0 -
Why do you workout so much? You really only need to workout 1 hr a day. Based on your workout scheduel, you should be almost eating 2x as many calories. 1400 calories isn't even enough if you just do the turbofire program. That program alone will require 1800 + calories. Do yourself a favor, do weight training 2 days a week and turbo fire days a week. Drop the additional cardio, it's just unnecessary. In fact I would do a day of yoga or flexibility training too. So that will be 6 hours a week. Also, I would put your calories around 1800 calories a day based on your stats.0

If you do all that because you want to and it feels good, do it... but eat back your exercise calories. You need to fuel that kind of thing. Your weight is not dissimilar to mine when I came to MFP and I set my goal to lose 1/2 lb per week... it gave me 1660 as a target. I ate back all my exercise calories and lost 8.5 lbs over the first 5 weeks of that. That's eating about 2100 calories/day.
If you do all that because you think it's best for weight loss, please reconsider. I have always found the more I work out the harder it is to find the sweet spot. I recommend backing off to no more than 60 minutes daily with at least 1 if not 2 days off weekly.0 -
I didn't know I was supposed to eat that much more, I do all that because sometimes I have the time so I just push myself to do more. I do weight training with my boyfriend who pushes me to try heavier weights.
You guys think that's why I haven't lost much weight?
I really REALLY do appreciate all your input on the subject! :-)0
