Not food related - flying to Lebanon

I have been invited by my friend to go to Lebanon for 10 days in July.
My flight would go out of JFK to Cairo to Beirut.
Does anyone know anything about this kind of trip?
I am adventurous and a risk taker - but i am unsure if this is pushing it.
She has family in all parts of lebanon - on the coast and in the mountains.
I want to go - but helpful tips would be great:)

    I say go for it!!!

    I was in both Syria and Lebanon last summer (I have family all over Syria). The whole time I was in Lebanon I felt like I was here in the US. They are much more Americanized than most people realize. And Lebanon is not primarily Muslim like Syria is, so you don’t have to be concerned about what you are wearing. When I was in Syria there were certain places I couldn’t go if I was wearing a short sleeved shirt and shorts – but Lebanon doesn’t really have those restrictions. I had an awesome time there, I didn’t want to come back.

    Thank you!!!!!! I so am looking forward to it - people are saying I shouldnt go - but I feel as though that is close minded. I want to go and I am planning for it. Her whole family is there... it will be an adventure!!!!!!!
    Flying NY to Cairo then to Beirut.
    WIll be flying home alone though which is scary, but I should be fine:)
