In a funk!

Hi Everyone. I'm feeling really down on myself and can't get out of this funk I'm in. I lost 30 lbs and was doing great until recently. I had gum surgery 2 weeks ago and was really limited on the foods I could eat and could not workout all week. I wasn't making the healthiest choices and wasn't working out. Well just as I was almost done recovering from that I got the flu. It wasn't the type of flu where you throw up/lose appetite. I continued to eat and not the healthiest choices either and couldnt workout. Well the past 2-3 days I've been feeling better but not 100% (still have lingering cough etc). I've been using that as an excuse to continue not working out and my eating choices have been even worse (think chinese food for dinner twice in a row, frozen yogurt w/ hot fudge etc). I can't snap out of this funk I'm in and keep saying oh one more day. Well now I'm getting worried I'm gaining all my weight back and feeling down on myself. I'm finding it really hard to get back on track for some reason. Any tips on getting back into it after you've been "off" for awhile?

Start right now! Not tomorrow, not in two days, not next week. Doesn't matter if it is good or bad, just start logging. Being accountable is a big step back on the bus.

Nornyb is right! How quickly just one more day turns into a year and you will look back and feel horrible because you KNOW how to do this.
I totally get that re-starting is hard. Those old habits seem to always be there waiting to take over our eating patterns. I have been there recently. What is working for me is to eat lots of fruit. I know it's not the best choice, but it's a better choice and it is satisfying my sweet cravings. I tend to focus on controlling sugar, fat, fiber, sodium, but for now I am just focusing on the calories, so I can still have some of those 'bad' foods I was eating when I was out in the 'food fog'. For some reason, I really hate veggies after I have been eating poorly. Once I get back on track, I love my veggies!! So, I think we have to go back to the very beginning when we were just figuring out how to do this. Don' t feel like you have to go back to the old perfect eating right off. Ease back into it and be happy with every little accomplishment.
