Hi all,
Does dry rice and pasta increase in cals when cooked or as its just boiling in water stay the same.

It stays the same but obviously 150g raw pasta or rice has more cals than 150g of cooked rice.
I weigh before cooking and cook mine in a separate pan to the rest of the family's.0 -

It's easy to do because it expands so much in cooking. I measured out/weighed my 2oz of spaghetti the other night and looked at it and thought "no way" so I bumped my portion to 4oz (I had the calories available so I figured why not). But when cooked - it was enough for three meals!! And yet the same # of calories as before cooking... well like I said, it's easy to figure it wrong because how much it expands in cooking.0
