But today I get to eat a whopping 2938 cals. It's like that daily for me. I'm kinda unable eat that much at all, no matter how hard I try so my NET always looks totally low. Today I'm netting 6 cals0 -
I have no idea what my maintenance weight will be, if it's not much higher than what i'm put on for losing (1200) i would not be able to cope.
I wonder why this site gives so much less calories than others do for both losing and maintaining?
Rule of thumb (I think), if you were programed to lose 1 lb/wk, add 500 cal/da to get your maintenance allotment.0 -

Around 2000 is my maintence, I'm not that active but have a Mega metabolism, I lift 3-4x a week, no cardio, walk a lot though. ....MFP sets it way lower...if I ever went by those standards I'd lose 3lb a week.0 -

I'm trying to work out what mine should be. I have maintained for over a month now and seem to be doing okay, but I got different readings depending on which site I go on. I'm trying to work out my average over a month period - it's difficult because a few pounds go on for TOM and then come off again, but I reckon that if I record food, exercise and any gains and losses I should be able to do the maths and get a number that works for me.
On MFP I've got 1790 for my maintenance cals without exercise and for a sedentary person of 5'9" 144lbs aged 46, but I think I actually eat more than that, but then everyone's metabolism is different.0 -

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet-- if you've been logging accurately for at least 10 weeks you can figure out your real TDEE. It's only as accurate as your logging though so if you don't use a food scale and log everything it won't work. The method is in this thread:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets
So that's the method I used to get my maintenance calories.

Maintenance depending on the week is 2100-2300 cals by TDEE method. MFP is lower for many bc you still have to deal with exercise cals. Lift 3 times a week, run 3 days. It will more than likely go up as I draw in on my races etc.0 -
Age: 40
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 195
I lift 4 days a week and run 2-3
Maintenance is a moving target. MFP gives me 2460 as maintenance (before exercise) but given the way I lose weight faster and gain weight slower than MFP predicts, it's higher. Using scooby, it is about 2700, which is about right.0 -

Sedentary job but exercising 5 or 6 times a week (burning about 5000 cals/week)
Maintenance is complicated as I have two 600 calorie fasting days a week....
600 (gross, no eating back) x 2 days and 2000 (net, lots of eating back!) maintenance calories x 5 days a week.
Very slowly losing weight so 2100 x 5 is probably the magic number.0 -

On a rest day TDEE is about 2000-2200.. I'm a stay at home mom but have a very busy toddler.
On a workout day (running/marathon training) anywhere from 2800-3500 (up to 4000 on a long run day if I stay active the rest of the day as well)
Oh, and MFP calculated 1600 as my maintenance calories. WAY too low!0 -

MFP expects you to eat back your exercise calories, that's why they are lower. Also, none of you are actually sedentary. I have mine set for very active, and I only go to the gym 5 days a week and have a job that involves sitting at least half the day. Of course, in my case, they are still too low.

MFP gives me about 1700 before I enter my exercise. I actually eat about 2200--I have a BodyMedia that tells me that I burn on average 2250 per day, so that's what I eat most days. And for the record, I rarely burn 500 calories thru exercise, so that's why I feel MFP is low.0 -

I started maintaining several months ago and am able to maintain easily at 2150-2200. Those are the numbers Scooby gave me, so I do not eat workout calories back. If I go below 2100 I start to lose slowly.
I lost my weight never netting below bmr and ate over 2000 on most days, so I do think in some ways that helped me. I never drastically cut my calories, so transitioning to maintenence was a breeze.
I am pregnant now, so I get to eat even more soon. Looking at 2400-2500 for the second trimester. WIN!0 -

Hey all! I am interested in seeing where everyone stands for maintenance calories! Right now the maintenance calories that MFP gives me are quite a bit lower than what other sites have given me.... so I thought I would check on here and see what everyone else is given! If you're interested, post your height, age, gender, weight, fitness level (more from exercise than daily activity... so how much you actually work out) and maintenance calories! I'd just love to see where I stand among everyone else!

Aside from the fact that I'm almost twice your age (45!), our stats are exactly the same. I keep my maintenance around 1550 (TDEE seems to be around 1700 on non-workout days). I go a little under that because I know sometimes calorie counting isn't accurate, especially when going out to eat. It seems to work for me and I generally weigh in with a .5 swing either direction.0 -

Average calories burned per day walk/running to work and short but intense workout DVDs 6 days per week (Body Revolution): 520
Net maintenance calories: 1820 with my MFP set to "active" not counting my workouts ("lightly active" didn't set my calories high enough)
Actual calories I eat per day: about 2200
And fat is still (slowly) coming off. I like eating a lot and moving a lot!0 -
40 years old, 5'5", about 135 pounds and maintaining around 2300 calories. I usually eat a little less during the week when I log my food, and a little more on weekends when I don't log. I also take a break from logging every few weeks. This is one of those weeks.
I run between 3-6 miles three times a week, and lift heavy three times a week.
Maintaining one year and 8 months.0
