search the message boards for road map 2.0.. it has some helpful info. 1200 wasn't anywhere near enough food for me when exercising0

What he said. If you are over 140 lbs your calories are too low. I would bump it to 1500 and watch the scale start moving again.
just noticed when you started, my daughter was in the exact same spot as for being stuck. it lasted for 2 1/2 weeks...arghhh.
Re-read Road Map 2.0, bumped calories 300 and viola! DO NOT QUIT!0 -
It's time to mix things up. The weather is changing...take that bicycle outside and peddle some hills. Take a hike, just do something different for exercise. Also, take a close, hard look at portion sizes. Keep serving sizes the size of a deck of cards.0

Eating anything after 6 at night isn't going to cause you to not to lose weight just an FYI, I'd be starving if I didn't lol.
Make sure you are measuring all your foods and drinking plenty of water.. I also suggest you eat your exercise calories back, MFP is intended to work that way. If you don't have much to lose you might want to change your setting to lose 1lb a week instead of 2.0 -
Not that I am any kind of expert what so ever.. But I would say your not eating enough. Also maybe try changing your exercise routine. Like add walking or a different kind of cardio.Zumba is fun0

This...or change to a different machine...0 -
let me see your diary, make it not private.
Are you sure you are measuring your portions correctly?0 -
As weird as it sounds, a lot of people have to eat more to lose weight and that may or may not be the case with you.
Personally, if you're not eating back your exercise calories (70-80% of them) you should start there. MFP intends you to do so as exercise on top of the huge deficit MFP gives you in your calorie goal make and even bigger deficit. Sounds like that would be even better right? Wrong...too big a deficit and your metabolism will slow down and your new diet becomes your new maintenance. If that doesn't get things going in 4-6 weeks, take a look at upping your activity level and also eating back exercise calories. Everyone puts sedentary, when in reality, most people (even with desk job) aren't really sedentary. Though I work at a desk, I had to up my activity to light active and started eating back exercise calories to really start consistently losing; I use the TDEE method now (see Road Map mentioned above)...but I don't necessarily recommend that for beginners until you can actually wrap your brain around what's going on.
Start eating back your exercise calories (or most of them). It took about a month for your metabolism to stall, so it might take a couple weeks for it to adjust back up. Don't worry...once you reboot, you'll start losing again. 1,200 calories and not eating back exercise calories is just a recipe for quick and early plateaus. This is exactly why "fast" (being a relative term) weight loss is un-advisable.0 -
Unless you open your food diary, I can't offer any advice.0

work smarter and harder.
give equal focus to cardio, weights, rest and nutrition and you'll do it. Focus too much on one and you're working against yourself, probably.0 -
Up your calories! I hit a wall for about 2-3 months with no weight loss, then raised my calories (thinking, this isn't going to do anything but make me gain) and I started losing again! Be patient. We all run into these ruts. It will happen!0

You must have a caloric deficit to lose weight. Also, as others are mentioning, if you're not eating enough calories, that can also impede your progress, as it slows down your metabolism.
Make sure you're eating GOOD calories, and ice cream is not good calories. Eliminate soda and unnecessary sugars. Consider reducing carbs. Eat fresh fruits and veggies daily. Portion control is a big factor, and that's why we log everything that goes in your mouth, and be honest with yourself.
I also agree with the others that it's time to "mix up" your workout. Get off the stationary bike and do something different. Try strength training three days a week. There are many sources online, and you can use your own body weight for resistance.
Remember that losing weight is slow and steady, but you have to be doing the right things along the way.
Good luck!0 -
I will second eating back your exercise calories. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it's the only thing that got me over my two month plateau.
Just watch out if you're using MFP's estimates because it does tend to give you too many calories (that's why the recommendation is often to eat 80% of them). If you're using a heart rate monitor to measure your burn then obviously you don't have to worry about that.0 -
I got on a slump for a week with no changes and i googled for plateau advice what i received that helped me over the hurtle was change up your work out routine. Your body gets adjusted to the same work out over and over again and it doesn't need to put as much energy into it as it used to. Instead I started doing intervals on the treadmill or on cardio. Also I started doing circuits rotation between weight lifting, body weight exercises like crunches, push ups, ab holds, etc. and the third thing in the circuit is something fast paced to keep your heart rate up for 1 min like sprints, jumping jacks, jump ropes, jump squats, mountain climbers, etc. I rotate about 5-6 circuits with this pattern. It has definitely helped. I also had to readjust my goals because i didn't need to lose the drastic weight that I had needed before and my body had gone into starvation mode. I just ate normal for a couple days no deficit at all and then went back to dieting. I think it kind of reassures your body that you are not starving. The other advice I received was drink lots of water, eat cleaner foods (fewer to none processed) and realize that if you are doing the last few vanity pounds it is good to not lose real quickly. You more than likely don't want to lose all your hard worked for muscle and retain the fat that you were trying to lose in the first place, unless you want to look like a stick... which is usually not desired.0

I am going to try and up my calorie intake - i am exercising an extra 421 calories a day but not eating over 1200 or sometimes I dont even hit 1200.0
