I have been dieting and exercising for about 5 weeks now. The first week I lost 3 lbs, the 2nd week I lost 5 lbs, the 3rd week I gained 5 lbs and the 4th week I stayed the same, tonight I am weighing in for the 5th week and I am so scared to even get near the scale.
I feel like I am pushing myself with the work outs and trying very hard to stay within my calorie range but yet I am not seeing any changes. Have I cheated with food? Yes, I have but not enough for the gains or not losing anything.
I am so frustrated. I need help before I completely throw all this out the window. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

I suggest you read through the countless threads on plateaus and increasing your caloric intake to lose. You're probably eating too low, or the food you're choosing is not as nutritious as you think.0

Where are you weighing in at? Is it on a flat surface? Do others use the same scale as you? These are some basic questions and things to check on. If many people use the scale, or its on carpet it may be unbalanced. Weighing at night can be a challange because you have eaten during the day and depending on what you eat and how much you drink, the scale can change. I think that is why so many people weigh themselves first thing in the morning and with little or no clothes on.
If we get past the scale part, there are lots of reasons why the scale will go up and down such as sodium content in your diet, the clothes your wearing etc.
Look at your food journal and make sure you are putting everything down that you eat, even licks, bites and nibbles have calories. Sometimes we do not realize what we have put in our mouths unless we have put it down.
What ever you do, do not give up. Keep at it until you find the right combination for you0 -

The huge weight loss from the first two weeks was probably water.
You're not going to lose every week (according to the scale). Various factors are at play. You might even gain from one week to the next.
It's not always wise to keep pushing and pushing, especially if you're not well informed on proper nutrition. Eating too little and exercising too much can be hazardous to your health.
It's not always going to be incremental progress. You might not lose any weight (according to the scale) one month and suddenly lose 10 lbs the next month.
I adopted the "Set it and Forget it!" mentality on my diet. I just followed it and forgot about the scale or the measuring tape. A few months later, I was down 40 lbs.0 -
5 weeks on the grand scale of things isn't that long. Stop weighing for a while, I haven't lost weight in weeks but feel that I am more alert, and generally feel healthier. Get the hang of your new regime.
I have recently moved over to the TDEE-20% thing and am giving that a go for a little while, although my brain doesn't like the idea eating more to lose weight will work, logically your body does need to be fuelled. Try some other options for a little while maybe.
Good things are always more worth the wait0 -
Weight loss is so dependent on so many things. Plus, when you weigh in (night/morning) makes a huge difference too.
I would start with scoobys calculator (google it) and make sure you're eating the correct amount of calories.
Make sure that you're pushing yourself in a healthy way with the workouts. Make sure you're taking rest days, too.
You'll get there, it just takes a while for your body to figure out what your'e doing to it0
