I just saw this documentary. Just curious what everyone's thoughts are about it. It was really interesting (and funny) and I definitely want to research it more, but it gave me something to read into.

It was an okay depiction of how foods process in people with insulin resistance. But it was terribly skewed in that they seemed to want us to believe that everyone is insulin resistant.

I'm ignorance resistant. I tend to avoid situations where others live in ignorant bliss from the truth.

As a diabetic, I have to agree with it, but I also know that not everyone is insulin resistant. That being said, more and more people are becoming insulin resistant as we consume so many processed grains and refined sugar. Doctors and scientists refer to it as metabolic syndrome or syndrome X. Before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I didn't pay any attention to the carbs that I consumed in a day, it was probably well over any recommended amount. Now that I have been getting healthy, I have been eating around 100 carbs a day. I pay attention to what I eat rather than just shoveling food. I wholeheartedly agree with Tom in that we CAN say NO...and that it's not BAD to have something we really enjoy...just not with every single meal. I've lost 60 lbs and I still go out and eat. I just don't drink sugary soda, munch on bags of chips in between meals, and I exercise. I also eat a ton of fresh food, I avoid anything with added sugar, and I don't have processed grains with every meal. That's not to say I never have that stuff, like tonight I had enchiladas and chips and salsa. I didn't have three servings of chips though, and I only had two enchiladas with veggies instead of rice. I believe it's all about balance. You have to find your balance. I liked the documentary, but I'm sure there are a hundred different opinions out there. :)
