Plateaus are extremely annoying, but that's when you start making adjustments to your diet. Consume less calories, or maybe less fat, or start eating more veggies/fruits and cut down on processed foods. It all depends on who you are, so now you have to find out what works for you. I started at 200+ pounds and went to 148. I'm on my second plateau, however I am also weight lifting. At this rate I'm mostly focused on inches lost. Good luck!

I may not have the story you are looking for .... but .... back in Dec 2009 I weighed a lovely 240lbs!!! I lost 110 by July 2010. Then I got myself a boyfriend who is a carbaholic. Yep 'FOUND' 55 lbs back on my butt. I'm right at 174 today. There will be plateaus, then when your body is re-sizing its, then you lose. Just don't stop the healthy and exercise. The victory is making the choice not to go back to bad habits.
  • Thankyou guys so much for the motivation and support! I want this too bad to just give up now. I definitely see that it is possible thanks to u all :)

You are doing great! It's definitely not worth giving up on. Just imagine how you would feel if you did. I am in the same range as you but I am just starting out. Best of luck to you!

Last year, I started at 250. I'm down to the 190s. It's just dedication (which i've seemed to have lost), eating right, and exercise.

This. Sometimes a plateau is fat loss and muscle gain and so you don't see the lbs coming off but you might see the inches. And changing up your routine can help as well, both in what you are eating and how you are exercising. Sometimes even upping your calories can help. I think that what you need to do is change your exercise routine up, a lot of times that will help kick start the weight loss again. There's something called muscle memory and once your body is used to a certain exercise you can plateau. Jillian Michaels has some good videos on YouTube, she is tough, but just do what you can, unless you already do that type of workout. Change it up and also try changing your diet too, like another person said maybe increase the fruits and veggies and decrease the carbs. You're doing great, keep it up, you look good!

I'm 5'4" and 171, I just joined this site and started tracking my calories. I was at 185 and had gotten down to 165 and now gained some back, I'm hoping this site will help me to stay on track. I really have to get motivated to work out, I really like Zumba, but I've just gotten so lazy. I def don't want to get back up to where I was, but its sneaking up on me because I've haven't been as strict on my diet lately.
  • I want to thank each and every one of u for the advice! I'm feeling very determined and motivated to reach my goal. I'm so happy to have a lil support group lol thankyou!! :)
