Rotten day at work. But massive positive is I got my bike back and it only cost me £20 AND I got to ride it home and it was awesome, even though I feel like crap and I'm really worried I'll have to stay late *again* tomorrow night, when actually the company owes me like 3.5hrs for all the extra time I've already worked this week, not counting lunch breaks I've had to cut short etc. the only reason I care tomorrow is coz it's my Friday to drive to my bf's and is really like to be there before 11pm and if I get home late I know my mum is gong to spaz out at me and tell me I shouldn't drive when tired and ill and that I should go in the morning. But no! I want to go tomorrow night. *stamps feet* I'm an adult and I'm perfectly capable of making my own decisions, and I'm well aware I've been ill, and I'm well aware I probably *should* have had about 2 days off...but I've also been put on 2 real life proper architecture projects doing actual drawings rather than just assistanty/admin work for them, and it's a real increase in my responsibility and experience, so I was not going to let them pull me off the project just coz I was sick. And y'know what, despite still being super snotty, sounding like a man and feeling dreadful in so many ways I don't regret it at all.
Well done jenn on the loss and the pizza! Treats (especially well managed ones) are really important!
I don't know how you do the juicing thing though, I've had to stop drinking juice as it just makes me more hungry!0 -
Hello! I would love to join this group. My name is Zoe and my current goal is to lose 60 pounds. I started using myfitnesspal again about a week ago. I had used it last year and lost about 20 pounds, but slipped and gained it all back. I am looking for some supportive people to help me through these next months and to help keep me motivated! I would also love to be able to help others stay motivated and feel supported as well
I am 27 and I work as a Mental Health Counsellor. I have always struggled with my weight, always being the biggest in my group of friends. My motivation for losing this weight is to feel more confident as I enter this new chapter in my life. I graduated with my Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology last year, which means I am finally at a point in my life where I am no longer a student! I want to start this new journey with a healthy frame of mind, and get my health on track.
I am a major sugar junkie, and also cheeseburgers... drool.
I am eating 1500 calories a week and trying to work out about 30 minutes per day.0 -
Hi im lisa from the uk I have 58lbs to lose i have pcos &sleep apnea im looking to have supportive friends and in return ill give all my best support to you all0

Welcome to the new faces.
Only have a few minutes so sorry for no personal responses. Been trying hard this week with the eating as I said in an earlier post. Monday night I was watching biggest loser (season 13 - we are behind over here) it touched a chord in me. My beautiful baby girl. All the excuses under the sun are not worth not being here for her. So I've been trying to remind myself of this trough the days.
Ate my lunch with baby girl today and even though she's only 7 months old I was very aware of her watching what I was eating. Need to remember this. Also as I was feeding her at the same time it forced me to slow down instead of just wolfing it down
And finally, I miss running!!!!!! I had get to the store and home quite quickly tonight so was really fast walking, almost running and I was struck by how much I miss running. The sense of freedom, the sense of power an the knowledge I'm doing good for myself. I need to get back at it. It migh have to wait till I'm back at work but I will get back to it.
It's thirsty Thursday - get that water into you!!!
ty! i need to learn how to slow down myself i tend to want the food gone asap..ugh0 -

I don't know how you do the juicing thing though, I've had to stop drinking juice as it just makes me more hungry!
ty! honestly the reason i do ok with the juicing is back in june 2010 i seperated from my husband he was abusive got a boyfriend around the same time and got into a bad car accident a week after and had to have neck surgery my boyfriend actually researched how to not get me addicted to the meds and how to heal my body healthier. he found a movie fat sick and nearly dead i watched that and for the most part of being laid up for 9 months i juiced lost 80lbs and it helped me heal and not get stuck on meds. i still need them when i have a flair up but they aren' t narcotic based just a strong tylenol (like taking 2) and a muscle relaxer helps me sleep. i do typically an ohyeah bar for breakfast and 8-12 oz of bolthouse juice..lunch is 8-12oz bolthouse juice (different flavor) snack is 8-12 oz bolthouse juice and i just pick a decent dinner that i feel like eating and if i want i have some m&m's an hour or so later (about 20 of them) i keep them in my freezer i like chocolate and find i can actually regulate myself. i don't always have the m&ms but to know they are there if i want them is a nice treat especially during TOM.
so glad to hear you got your bike back! be safe going to the BF house i know how moms are mine goes from best friend mode to mom mode at the flip of a switch..i just have to say i know mom i love you0 -
I was so excited to see this thread.
I'm Kat, 34 years old, currently living in Arizona. My goal is to lose a total of 98 to 113 lbs., I'm down 13 so far. I'm looking forward to finding some supportive MFP friends.
I put the majority of the weight on while in school and working full time but have yet to shed more than 20 pounds before falling off the wagon and putting it all back on. This time around I have really thrown my all at this goal with changing my diet to a plant based whole foods diet and using Bodymedia to show me just how many (or few) calories I burn in a day. I’m 4 weeks in and am loving changes physically, emotionally and mentally.0 -
Ugg! This week has not been a good one for me relationship/emotional wise and I gave in a few times and ate. I feel like Im fighting with everyone and Im PMSing which is making me crabby. Sometimes I feel like I can't be around my friends because they are eating drive-thru food and ordering pizza at 10pm. I feel so alone and left out but at the same time now I need to put myself and my health first. I just gotta keep my head in the game.
I know I didn't post much this week. School is seriously so busy and kicking my butt with work on top of that. I have been reading though. Just no time to respond. I'll be gone all weekend as well. I have the opportunity to go on a Mission Discovery weekend to learn more about what it is like to serve in overseas missions. Im really excited but at the same time I won't be able to control what Im eating and there will be no opportunity for me to workout. I will just have to manage portion sizes on whatever they give me and hope for the best. Not weighing myself this week anyway because of TOM.
Hope everyone had a happy and healthy week. To all the new people hello can't wait to get to know you all better.
Penny- Sorry to hear you have been sick but Im glad you are starting to feel better. I hope you don't have to work late and will get to see the bf tomorrow night.
Steph- Congratz on the lose; keep up the hard work. Its motivating when you know there are little ones watching your every move even if they are to young to understand. Just keep thinking about all the healthy habits you want to teach that baby girl as she is growing up.

Good morning (at least here it is)
Last night was a really crappy one, I was starving when I came home from work and that's not good. I just kept eating the whole evening until I finally got to bed. Not unhealthy food, just too much of everything, going over my calorie goal quite a bit. I have to have that 4 o clock snack!
Well, today is another day. I have my lunch with me to work and I plan to go out for a run at lunch. Tonight I’m going to the restaurant (Thai!), but I will try to chat more than I eat!
Stephanie, 1 is more than 0!
It sounds very reasonable to have awards often. I actually don't have weight related awards, but rewards for good behavior. I am currently not drinking any alcohol, I have decided to go 10 weeks without (I live in France so you can imagine how that is seen over here.) I'm 5 weeks down and I will reward myself to a weekend trip to Spain if I go the whole 10 weeks without alcohol. Tonight I'm seeing a friend in town and I'm going to have Virgin Mojitos, they are really good!
Jenn, good job on the pizza, way to go!
Penny, glad to hear about your bike. You know that rest is important when you're being sick, but it sounds like you're in a very crucial state at work, so it's understandable why you are pushing yourself and I think that's totally ok. Just make sure that you get your rest eventually. Take it easy at bf's house!
Zoe, welcome! I hope you mean 1500 per day and not per week0 -
Ok so this is a follow up to my last post on this forum/thread. I am finding that my motivation level has decreased. This is due to the stress that I am currently going through. Long story short, recently seperated since Sept. 2012. Unfaithful husband, and also found out he lied about his entire life to me so I married a fake. With that said I am still currently living in the home we purchased a few years ago but have decided to make a life change outside of the one to get healthy. Me and my 18 yr old daughter are moving to Florida. I know that I have to avoid the stress with the situation I am in and I have been getting out of the house more and doing things to avoid being here with him, under the same roof too much. My weight loss has seemed to slow because of the stress and I have let it take over. I have decided that I have to stop and just walk away from it in order for me to stay focused but this is something I am finding hard to do. It is a hard situation to live with someone you have so much dislike for but I only have a little time left here. I am moving to Florida at the end of March but I want to continue to stay on the right path from now until then as well. Anyone have any suggestions they may want to share on how to de-stress myself other than getting rid of the EX in my life for good!!!!
I am glad I found MFP and the friends I have made because with out them I would have no one for support and encouragement!! So I want to say Thanks to all those I have become friends with, and wish them a successful life changing journey!!!0 -
Hello everyone, so today is my weigh in day and I lost 1.6 more pounds. This got me to the 10 pounds lost mark, I tried to be excited about it but I couldn't help but be a tiny bit dissapointed because I was hoping to lose a full 2 pounds. I am keeping my spirits up because I am now down to 174 which is only 6 pounds aways from the lowest I have been. I am trying to stay positive and remind myself of that and realize that I really am doing a good job. In July, I was at 200.
I was really proud of myself yesterday because I went to the gym and ran for 5 miles straight without stopping. It made me feel amazing and I hope I only continue to get better.0 -
happy day everyone! hope all is well with you all. i had a loss of .8 yesterday hoping for .5 more by sunday weigh in but im actually ok if i don't hit it. Been doing good last night did my richard simmons sweating to the oldies. I forgot how much fun i have doing it. Trying to be more accountable i am actually posting my losses on fb...and when i work out too. so i know i will get called out if i don't post one day about something. I am surprised at the amount of people that disliked my exdh...one of my uncles has been sending me oh yeah bars to help me out and has told me of the difference he sees in me. he didn't talk to me the entire time i was with my ex unless it was at a family gathering but then it was still just polite talk nothing serious. have a thin day everyone!0

Been a bad day. Got some worrying news and its taken all my power to not eat absolutely everything in the house. I could log but can't be asked. I did bad, I know it. May try to run later as that is what I instinctively wanted to do but with baby couldn't. Tomorrow is fresh and will hopefully go better.0

Hello there. Well I'm Leah. I'm 21 and trying to really make the effort to change for real this time. I have about 130 pounds left to lose. I've been overweight my whole life. Even back in elementary school I was chunky, but I was never terribly big, at least not until end of elementary or the beginning of middle school. I've tried off and on many times to lose weight but this time I'm determined to be successful in my goals.0
-
Hey Tammy, sorry to hear that. I've been the victim of similar, it hurts. D t eat your feelings though. Get a therapist.
Steph, your bub is the cutest. My daughter is 13 now and still the apple of my eye. Start with good fresh healthy food for her now.
Everyone who is sick, and feeling unmotivated - sorry about that, make sure you get your vitamins and minerals in. And rest. Find your mojo!!! We can do this!
I bought a FitBit this week and wearing it for the second day. Love it!! I know it's a glorified pedometer, but I think it was worth every cent. It really makes me think about all the incidental exercise that I can and should do.
Have a great weekend!0 -
Hey all....
Sorry, I've been away from the thread for a few days...been really busy. My daughter just got in last night from school on spring break. All week I've been working overtime to be all caught up - we're going to Disney World for a few days - leaving tomorrow. This will be a challenge because she and I are a bad influence on each other - a couple of real foodies! She's been training for a half marathon, so Im hoping we'll be better at keeping each other in check. This will be a good test.
Lost another 1lb this week...which I'll gladly embrace, because I was a bit over on cals almost every day and way low on the vegetables - with my work schedule it was tough to prepare meals.
Sounds like its been a tough week for many of you. Im thinking its the season...at least for me in northeast Ohio - cold, gray, and just plain sick of winter and ready for the birds to come back! I know for me, when the sun is lacking, every stresser seems so much heavier.
Have a wonderful weekend and a brighter week next (I'm seriously looking forward to my sunshine boost - even at the expense of calorie intake) - s@#t, did I just say that?! Just goes to show how powerful those emotions can be.
I won't be back until Friday. Will check in then.0 -
Gettinyoung: I'm with you on the seasonal thing. I don't miss the snow of Canada but it at least brightened things up. 10 years in England and the months of flat grey weather still do me in!! Thank goodness we are supposed to have sunshine and warmth this week!!!
skimflatwhite: thanks, i'm rather fond of her!
So the news that I got was my mom calling to say they spent the day in the hospital with my dad having his heart checked out. It is times like this that I HATE being half a world away. So hard not to worry. He's home and suppose to be taking it easy and will go back for further tests, so far so good though.
It's been a challenging weekend with the hubs and I at each others throats (not been sleeping well) and its taken a lot to not eat my anger and hurt but so far so good. I am hopeful for a good number on the scale later this week.
I've not been exercising but really want to get back out and running so need to work something out that will allow me to do that, even if its only a couple of times a week. This month is going to be hard for me as I am returning to work at the end of the month and so each passing day I feel sad about the fact that my daughter will be going to nursery. I know it will be good for her but we have not been a part for more than a couple of hours here or there since she was born.
Hope you have all had a good weekend.0 -
hope everyone is having a wonderful day! weigh in day was yesterday (for the week) so last week i lost 7.1 im happy. but had to have blood work today cause dr says thyroid is wonky again..ugh! everytime i start losing they change my meds. i know it needs to be adjusted though cause i am having some joint pain. joint pain is not fun. bday is in 2 weeks im excited to see where ill be then. im hoping by next years bday ill be at my goal weight. i had originally planned for it for this year but that didn't happen. oh well brush off and move on. one day at a time!0
-
Monday is over! Spring is (sort of) here, though it's still really cold! At least it was sunny too.
I had a good weekend even if I also made some naughty choices...but I did make the choice rather than falling into it, and it wasn't *that* bad etc.
Work's ok...it's nice to be back on my bike. Need to get my head back into the game for exercise...although the walking and cycling is ok now, i can't find the motivtion to do anymore...but boss asked today's who'd be interested in running a 10k for charity in July, so I said I'd do it...eek. Need to get back into running now...4months
Hope everyone is ok! Xx0 -
Sorry, been having a crazy week... and should have been in bed hours ago. Just am really freaked out because I have an appt with a foot doctor tomorrow to figure out what's going on & to take care of something that started with the bad blood blisters at Thanksgiving's 5K. It's gotten worse & is painful, whatever it is... is creating pressure on the nerves of 2-3 of my toes & is causing pretty significant swelling in the one foot. I hate the doctor... and so I was trying to prepare myself by looking at online stuff... which is NEVER a good idea! Ugh!
Guessing I won't be at the gym tomorrow so if that's true? I'll check in properly!0 -
I would like to join I have 75 lbs to loose...can not believe I let myself go... I am 43 live in NJ. I have a wonderful husband, 21, year old son, 3 doves,1 mutt and 2 horses. I started 2/25/13 with great motivation started exercising and the scale went up.0
-
Checking back in 5 weeks later I have lost 16lbs which is great. Trying not to focus on the 40 some odd to go. Still dying to step on the scale and not see a 2 at the beginning of that lovely 3 digit number. Still surviving of off internal support but doing ok. Today was super crappy - field trip at school which led to bagels and Chick-Fil-A but every day can't be perfect, right? Running is going great! I can run 3 miles non stop now and seriously considering a 10K in a couple of weeks just to give me a sense of accomplishment. Thanks for letting me post. :0)0

HI ladies. I just came back from a 7-day hiatus, meaning I didn't exercise and wasn't eating smartly. I'm scared to weigh myself and see the pounds come back. Last week, I had trouble going to the gym at night. I felt so tired and just wanted to stay home and relax. I guess working too hard a couple of weeks back started to take its toll on me.
So now, I just decided to wake up an hour earlier and exercise first thing in the morning. At least there is no excuse for not going to gym later in the day.
jennfl5366 - great job on the 7 lbs weight loss.
lombrica - good luck on your doctor's appointment.
To the other ladies, hope you all have a fine day.0 -
Penny: that is great that you have entered a 10k. I know you can do it!
Becky: how did the doctors go? What is the story with the foot?
Sheilarm: great loss. Try and check in more if you can. Lots of comraderie to be had
Jehan: give yourself a week off being good and then weigh in. You will get there!
So I lost 2.2lbs this week which makes me super happy. Been planning my meals and logging so it's great to see a result. The weather has turned warmer and my mind keeps turning to running. Need to make arrangements with hubby so it can happen. I am half way to my first reward marker £20 iTunes purchases for running to). We have guests over the next few days so its going to be a challenge. Also Mother's Day on Sunday which if I'm going to have a lax day it will probably be then.0 -
Hi, my name is Melissa. I am 5'7 and I am trying to lose a total of 58 pounds. I have gotten down 12 pounds since starting my journey on Jan. 7th. A little slower than I wanted but its progress. I am doing P90X which I will finish in about 5 weeks. Once that is done I plan to move on to ChaLean Extreme for 90 days.

I say my goal weight is 150 but I really dont care what the scale says. I just want to be in a healthy BMI range. So I am shooting for 20-22%.0 -
Hi I'm Fran and would love to join this group. I'm 55 and have 3 children who are all grown and gone. I have fought the weight battle it seems like forever. I started this effort at the end of September using MFP and beginning to work out. I do cardio daily and see a personal trainer twice a week. So far I have lost 28 pounds. My first goal is another 33, then I'll see how much more I want/need to lose.0

Hello! My name is Tammy, but since I teach, almost everyone calls me by a version of my last name; therefore, I usually answer to Queenie or Queen. I can clearly remember when my struggle with weight began. I had my tonsils/adenoids taken out at age seven, and over the next year, my weight ballooned. I have been heavy ever since.
I am staring forty squarely in the face, and it is time to get rid of the weight--not because I dislike myself or want to wear a certain size, but because I want to be around to see my children's children. I need to put myself and my health as a priority for a change.
I started at 300+ pounds, and the eventual goal is to make it to that oh-so-elusive "Onederland." In the six weeks since I joined MFP and started exercising, I have dropped twenty-two pounds, a reason to celebrate, but I know that I still have a LONG way to go. It took me 32 years to put this weight on; I just hope it doesn't take that long to lose it!0 -
Hi All :-)
I'd love to join the group, I have 112lb to lose (20lb down to date) and after I've reached that goal maybe a bit more.
Would love to be able to offer support to those of you going through the same thing, feel free to add me as a friend.0 -
Hello my name is Michelle and I have 60 pounds to lose. I am a mom of two and also work fulltime and am married to a long haul truck driver. I am glad to be part of this group.
Anyone can add me.0 -
Good morning! I would love to join your group. I am 45 yrs old and have been heavy most of my life. I topped the scales at 239 and am now 187. Would love to lose 50 (well 52 actually) more pounds and could use all the support I can get!
I am in week 7 of the Couch to 5k program and am eating clean.
2013 is my year to make it happen - let's do it!!!

Feeling incredibly selfish - but probably only do a Check-in Tonight and will come back to comment on all the rest of you... which, sucks, and makes me feel selfish -- but I can only do one or the other and my brain hurts, my body is sore... so going with the easy one.
My Update:
I've been pretty busy... started doing a "home business" deal and while initially I was just doing it because I liked the products? Now - I found that I'm actually making some money! I like that... and, the products are great. I mean - I can get 8 servings of fruits and veggies in one bottle of water... how can you beat that?!? LOL. So, we have been doing "Wrap Parties" which has been a lot of fun. Plus? I get to talk to people about becming healthier and leading a healthy lifestyle. It's really been great. But means I'e been busy!
I also had to go to a foot specialist... my feet have been an ongoing issue - only because that's the only pain I have with exercise. The balls of my feet hurt... HURT... makes it hard to even walk some nights. But, I have known that I don't have enough of a "fat pad" on the bottom of my feet. That, combined with high arches and arched toes makes for uncomfortable feet. Went in today - to have the doctor look at a callous that wouldn't go away - and was hurting, actually creating a pain and numbing in my toes because it was between the ball of my feet and base of my toes. Haven't been to the foot specialist or doctor for any of this - and they immediately send me for Xrays. Long story short? My foot hurts... they did several things to it, I go back in 3 weeks and she wants to (at that time) have me try some toe supports to see if that will help the calluses, blisters (I've had BAD blood blisters from 5Ks), and the ball of foot pain. So, while expensive and nerve-wracking, I suppose that it will, in the end, be good that I went. BUT my foot really hurts. So, here's hoping that it heals some. Right now, I can't really do a jog because I land on where that thing was. Anyway... I am hoping... that this will help.
And, I was told that I'm getting a "promotion" at work, there are unhappy people about it, which is really ridiculous. BUT whatever. I knew it was coming... but I was told that I was getting this a while back and then it fell through the day prior. So, I'm not really celebrating or putting much stock into it until it actually happens. Just hoping that it comes with a raise and a better pay grade! But, that's been some stress to deal with the BS drama that occurs because of it. They have regularly created jobs FOR me, and co-workers want it to be a competition... but, they are just trying to create drama. Anyway - the position is mine if/when it happens... and if I agree and sign the job description... they assume I will without any questions - but I meet with my boss tomorrow and am gonna run through the job desription and work with him on things that will level this up a level or two, or three!
That's about it... things are still good with the guy. And, I have a nephew expected May 23 and a niece expected July 5. Things are just good. OH - and I have my 2nd of at least 13 in 13 (13 runs/events in 2013) coming up in 10 days... March 16. Eek!0
