getting close...should i just diet?

so im getting closr to my goal while continuing to lose body fat but im frustrated that ive been dieting for so long...should i just go on a "strict diet" for a month and then lose the weight, be it lean or fat , and worry about body compositiionb once i get to the weight...or should i just keep up the slow and steady for an extra few months?

    Honestly, I would just knock it out since you're frustrated. I know i am going to get some nay sayers. But that is what i am doing. I have been losing 1/2 lb a week FOREVER. At this rate it will be 2 yrs before I reach my goal. That said, I am doing an extreme diet and then going to eat healthy. As much as ppl will disagree, this is what is currently right for me, because I have suffered long enough. And because I am ready to bump this up a bit.

    Be patient. The faster you lose it the more likely you are to gain it back. You could try lowering your calories a little but I wouldnt do anything intense. Just stay the course. It's a journey not a sprint.

    composition should matter to you if you're that close. What is a number if you have no muscle? Hit the weights and get leaner, don't worry about the scales. You can see countless thread with before and after pics of people who have not lost/gained ANY weight but look 100 times better because that fat has become muscle.

    for quick results , juice as much veg and some fruit as you like. Eat unsalted nuts seeds, sprouted beans, cut out dairy and meat.
    Thats strict enough and healthy short term. When you cant manage just go to 1/2 lb loss a week and resume raw vegan for few days
    when youve got the will power!

    i feel like before i started worrying about composition i was losing more weight...and i know scales and handheldss arent accurate, the only thing they do is show progress...and i do hit the weights, though im not like arnold...what about mad cardio and having a big deficit?

    I am close to my goal, but I am noticing that my scales haven't moved at all since I have been eating much better and exercising more for the past 6 weeks. But you know what has changed?

    When I look in the mirror I can see that my body shape has changed. My bf hold me by the waist and comments that my body shape has changed. No change on the scales at all though...!

    So just don't get hung up on the numbers. If you reach the 'ideal' number by simply starving your body of nutrients, the moment you start eating normally again it'll all come back. It's much more important to focus on your health, not just weight. That is what this is all about isn't it?

    edit: of course you were losing more weight before because you had more to lose!! LOL you think someone like me who is 140 pounds can lose 3 or 4 pounds a weak healthily? hells no!

    would the mad cardio and big defecit defeat the purpose of the weights? I'm trying to lose body fat now instead of weight by eating 20% below my tdee and started weights so as not to lose lean muscle that is hiding in me somewhere :) I feel so much more relaxed not letting a number on a scale be in charge of how I feel. I'd maybe say if you had loads to lose then yes, hit cardio etc but if you are so close to goal i'd stick with what you are doing. Do you ever take measurements instead of weighing?

    You should actually be eating more as you approach your goal. Try calculating your maintenance calories at your goal weight and start eating that now to help transition. And hit the weights now - whatever the scale says you'll lose inches, look slimmer and be wearing smaller size clothes before you know it! Switch your thinking to losing fat, not losing pounds.

    I'm in the No team too - start doing some weights, reduce the fat, increase the muscle, shift your thoughts from what the scales say to what the tape measure says :flowerforyou:

    In my opinion I looked like **** when I was leaning out and looked like a skinny fat person. I'm glad I have some upper body mass now that I've got into real lifting.
  • The closer you get to your goal, the harder you're going to have to work for any progress whatsoever. I'd ramp it up.

    THIS. So many people who state "I want to lose the weight then add muscle" aren't realizing that when you try to add the muscle back your weight is going to go back up! Keep what muscle you have work on recomp.
