NSV- My first "real" pushup

I've lost just a smidge over 30 lbs in the last year or so, but have never really made the commitment to work out consistently until very recently.

Today is day 8 of the 30DS for me. Since I started, I have been doing the modified (on knees) version of a push up. I have yet to complete my work out for the day, but while sitting at my desk at work this morning, I wondered if I had it in me to do a "real" push up. Without further adieu, I got on the floor and went for it. Success!

I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the whole circuit tonight using "real" push-ups, but I am going to give it a go and at least do some!

    Congrats!

We have something in common....it was the 30 Day Shred that got me doing my first real push up too!!

ETA: I can now do 300 in a day

    *hearty applause*

Well done! Feels ace to progress, doesn't it!

When I started working out I thought there was no way in hell I'd ever be able to do one but was similarly surprised when I gave it a go and managed one.

Do as many as you can in your workouts now and then drop to your knees when you need to. I managed only 2 the first time I did it and then 8 during the next workout.

To get good at any exercise you HAVE to attempt to do them correctly. Repetition takes care of the rest. Kudos and continue.

I had always been doing the modified ones too. What I decided to do was do at least one "real" pushup during the 30ds. and each day after that I'd add another on to it. I'm up to 12 now.

start with 'real' pushups, if you can't do anymore, don't drop to you knees, try doing a 'full' pushup on an incline. put your hands on a chair, couch, or even a stepper. the higher the platform/couch, the easier the pushup :) you can start on the ground and end in an incline, or visa versa.
I remember my first real pushup too. and I also remember when i could do more than one, 4 or 5 in a row, break, and then more. Its such a proud moment :P good on you
