Should these be done together on same day?

I'm wanting to lose weight preferably around 40 pounds and started P90X to help lose the weight i need to drop and to gain a little muscle definition so I don't look puny after dropping weight. My question is doing 2-3 miles brisk walk (not running) after a P90X session a bad idea cause sometimes I catch my second wind and feel much energized and want to continue to feel the burn. Lol

I think it kind of depends on the person. I know some people are completely worn out after P90X. Also, you don't want to overwork your body, or you may end up working against yourself. Generally speaking, cardio after strength training is the order you are supposed to do it, but I've heard P90X gets that cardio done for you pretty well.
Me personally, I do strength 3 days a week and cardio on 2 separate days. It all depends on what your body can handle. I like to spread my workouts out.
Play with your schedule a little and see what works for you. Hope that helps0 -
Yeah p90x wears me out too but on some days I catch a second wind and feel more energized so I'd hop on treadmill at a brisk walk. Just don't know if it was a good idea.0

It really just depends on your current fitness level so you have to judge for yourself how you feel. If you begin sleeping poorly, feeling exausted, or getting sick then it is too much. If you are feeling reasonably good the next day then it is not too much.
What might be too much now will be easily doable later as fitness levels increase.0 -
My dog needs a daily walk, so I do this on a regular basis. Most of the time I have no trouble with it. I do P90x, eat dinner, and then walk. The break for dinner helps a lot.
Try it out and if you find your too tired, make your walk a bit shorter and adjust as you get more fit.0 -
Just remember adding extra exercise to your p90x schedule means that if your following the nutrition guide, you have to account for those added calories your burning from the brisk walk.. not eating correctly during the program may mean you won't see the results you want.0

If you can handle both then go for it. Definitley do the PX 90 before the treadmill. I used to do cardio before strength and my trainer said to switch it so that you give full strenth to the strength workout and that is better for muscle development. He does have me do a 10-15 min warm up on the treadmill or elliptical first though.
And if you find yourself starving after a couple days... make sure you are eating every last one of those exercise calories. I exercise between 90-120 min per day (plus walking the dogs, slowly, 30-60 min per day weather permitting) and if I don't eat my exercise calories after a few days I binge like crazy.
Good luck!0 -
My trainer has told me it's the best to do any cardio after weights because it maximizes the fat burning. You don't wanna do it before cause then you might tire yourself out and not have the proper form when you do weights.
And yes I agree after I get going with the weights, I have a ton of energy and like to do walk/run intervals.0 -
Also if you have engery after P90X to do more then go for it! That just means you're getting fitter and more used to your workouts! That's a good thing!0
