Change in stride?

Question:
When I first started walking and then jogging, I went to a shoe store that focused on sports/running. Had them watch me walk/run and then went with the shoe they suggested and felt best; This was July 2011.
Fast forward to November 2012 -- I went for new shoes and bought the same brand, just the latest version of them. Since then, I've had nothing but problems above and beyond the "breaking in" period. I'm constantly suffering from hip pain regardless as to whether I use them for walking or jogging to the point that I've not jogged in months on any regular basis because I spend days trying to recover from it.
I'm still doing all the stretching before and after so that hasn't changed... is it possible that my stride itself as changed?
Thanks for the help in advance. I'd really like to get back into gear so I can sign up for some 5k's.

Sometimes running shoes change significantly version to version. I've worn Brooks Adrenaline's for years as a training shoe. Most versions are OK. A couple I've thrown out because they just didn't work.
Go back to the store and go through the process again. It may be a different shoe will be better for you. Could be a combination of shoe change and you change.0 -
You should never have to "break in" your running shoes.
The upgrade version that you have is probably completely different than the other versions.
If it is a reputable running store you will be able to bring the shoes back regardless of the fact that you've walked and run in them already. Tell them that they aren't comfortable and they will find you the same shoe in a different brand. I had a pair of shoes (I forget the brand) that I had gotten at Fleet Feet and when I went back to get them replaced the brand "upgraded". I figured it was the same so I purchased two pair. They weren't the same at all. I ran in them for probably a month before I decided to return them however I had thrown out the box on the pair I was wearing. They took back BOTH pairs of shoes and gave me a different brand - Brooks this time -- to use.
I have since gotten the "upgrade" of the Brooks. I bought them on line and I'm going to do a few more runs in them to see if they still hurt (I'm not trying to break them in my feet were hurting from doing insanity and running 6 miles in shoes that weren't for me). If they do I'm sending them back and going back to Fleet Feet.
Also, a good friend of mine who is an athlete told me that when you get your shoes to buy Superfeet inserts and remove the insert that's in the shoe and replace it with that. I haven't tried it yet but I am thinking about it.0 -
The store I got them usually you have 30 days to return them (even if you've used them) but its been well over that so I doubt they'll let me exchange them unfortunately but they are a reputable store.
I will check with them though.
I just never thought with the weight-loss that there'd be that big of a change or factor in the "upgrades" on the new models.
Nice idea on the inserts.0
