In Place of a Road Map 2.0---TDDI and BMR

Hi, maybe someone remembers the thread from 7/2012. I would like to know if this calculation of daily intake should be made from day one of changing ones diet...or only after hitting the plateau on the calories that MFP calculates?
Between the 2 calculations I have about 500 calories difference. Do not want to put myself on 1200 cal if all that will do is put my body on store mode after 1 week. Thanks

    TDEE - 20%
  • Yes, I have read the long thread on the subject, just not understanding if this works from Day 1. Also TDEE (sorry not TMMI) minus 20....I thought when plugged into the programs, the number that it spits out - is already the correct number according to my daily activity level.
so, you mean if it spits out 1750 cal/day..I need to take 20% off of that? Thanks
  • Hi, I am new at this, not sure if I reply to the whole thread or to a single post. I did to the whole thread, not sure if you would see it. Or if I have to reply to your reply for you to see it.

yes it works from day 1.

if 1750 is your TDEE, you need to eat less than this. not necessarily 20% less.... if you are carrying too much body fat, then eat 20% less. If you're already at a healthy body fat percentage but just want to improve it a little then TDEE - 10% is better.
  • Thank everyone! I went ahead and took 20% off and set everything at 1500 cal. Which is what I personally felt was acceptable for myself from the beginning. But, MFP actually puts me between 1200-1300 cal.

So, the question I want to add: according to the calulations for Body Fat...it gave me 25.1%...my scale at home which measures it too has it at 28-29%...so what do I believe/use in the calculations?
