Struggling To Find A Balance...

Now that I've become accustomed to working out and eating healthier, I'm struggling to find the balance between caloric intake and calories burned. I know that if you don't take in enough calories your metabolism is hindered and you don't have the fuel to sustain your workouts. I workout as hard as ever but I want my furnace burning higher! Any tips?

Eat back your exercise calories.
Strength train.0 -
Thanks. I do strength training, lifting weights 4-5 times a week. I try to eat back the calories but it's hard for me to eat so much. I think maybe I have to eat things that are higher in calories but still good for you.0

Either calculate your TDEE setting your activity level to sedentary, and then eat back your exercise calories, or set your activity level to match how often you're going to work out, and don't eat back your exercise calories (as they will be your deficit). If you're still needing to lose, be sure to adjust your calorie goal by the proper amount. Also definitely recommend adding strength training. If you need help doing it, search for the forum post "in place of a road map", or pm me.
ETA: How do you eat generally? Clean, Paleo, Vegetarian, IIFIYM?0 -

Yeah.
THrow some steak, peanut butter, whole milk, etc., etc., into you diet plan.
That'll bump up your calories.
Also don't be afraid to have a treat every so often.0 -

^This. And I would add nuts, and avocados as well. Any calorie/nutrient dense food would be good.0 -

What is your primary goal at this point in time - fat loss or athletic performance?
Depend what you want to achieve really.0 -
Food=energy! Definitely eat back a least a portion of your exercise calories, add some calorie-dense foods: nuts, avacadoes, peanut butter,etc.0

Thanks for the tips and comments everyone! I'm still wanting to lose more weight without losing the muscles that I gained so I want to be sure I'm feeding my body right and not running into starvation mode. I will add more calorie/nutrient foods into my diet and eat back some of that calories. I'd rather eat more than workout less to find that sweet balance! Thanks again!!0
