Breastfeeding and calculation

So...Ive done a search and want to make sure I get this right.

The calculations say I should be eating 1680 to lose 1lb per week.

BUT I am exclusively breastfeeding my son and it says that he takes in a average of 30 oz per day in BM.

So to make up for this, I have added it in my food diary and it gives me an additional 600 calories for the day.

Seem right or am I missing something?

Thanks for the help!! =]

    Hi Crystal,

    I am exclusively breastfeeding too.

My doctor told me no fewer than 2000 calories while breastfeeding and everything I have read suggests an extra 300 - 600 cal/day while breastfeeding, so it looks absolutely right. Make sure you eat back your exercise calories and drink a lot of water too.

    HTH,
    Good luck to you!

I am breastfeeding too. I added it in as an exercise. I end up spending about 2 hours a day nursing overall and I put that down as 500 calories. I think that way as I start weaning I can cut the time down and it will adjust the calories. All my weight and figures put me at 1380 calories but then adding that in gives me 1880 for the day. Everything that I've looked up seems to show that's pretty accurate. I hope that you are doing well with your goals! Good luck!!!
