sodium in rice a roni, and Zatarain's

Hi guys, I have too much sodium in my diet, and it's been very hard to NOT go over my daily sodium. I eat lots of rice a roni because it's cheap and I'm on a budget, but I want to make it without those seasoning packages they come with, and just add my own spices. I have a feeling the 1000+ sodium the nutritional facts lists is all coming from those packages, but I can't find anywhere where I can determine exactly how much.

I want to be able to log my food on this site, but I don't know what to put in if I use the rice a roni without the seasoning.
Can you guys help out? Any tips or info you have that may help?

Thanks

Unless there's sugar in the seasonings, it probably has negligible calories, so leaving off the sodium and keeping everything else would probably be the nutrition for the box of rice/vermicelli.

If you're not gonna use the seasoning, buying some rice pilaf in bulk is probably cheaper.

Agreed with PP but a bag of rice for the price of a few boxes and it can last months. Jasmine is my favorite .near the end I add chopped cilantto and lime juice to mimic Chipoltes

Do you currently suffer form hypertension and have to keep your sodium down or you're worrying to worry?

I'm currently attempting to lose a considerable amount of weight, and I have what would be considered pre-hypertension. Meaning if I continued down that road, I would. My diet was abysmal, with far too much sodium, so I don't think I'm worrying to worry, ok? I'm trying to fix my life.

To the other people, thank you for the responses. Apparently rice alone has negligible amounts of sodium by itself, so I can just knock off the sodium amount to log my nutritional info.

As to buying rice along in bulk or the rice a roni boxes, that entirely depends on the deals. I shop sales, and many times the boxes of rice are cheaper, especially with coupons.

    Thanks for the helpful responses.
