    Welcome back!

I'm semi new here too but have been using another site to track all my stuff. I got bored there and came here for a fresh start! I've lost over 100lbs, gained some back and am working on losing it again, plus some!

    Hi,

Just a note to let you know that you can do this! I too had about 50 pounds to loose, and I'm in my 50s. I lost about 45 pounds in a 9 month period. I worked out with hand weights and did some cardio at home; but it wasn't until I began doing Zumba that I really noticed a big change in my body structure. I didn't loose that much more weight, but was so happy with the results. Unfortunately, I began letting others influence my eating again and got out of the habit of working out and gained 10 pounds back within a year. So, here I am again and know that I have to do this for life!

You have to make a change your lifestyle - not just long enough to loose the weight. This is how I lost the original 45 and am now back on this track to loose the 10 plus hopefully another 10! I have always craved carbs. Sp, I changed my diet to exclude pastas, rice, potatoes, breads (bad carbs) and increased my intake of lean proteins. I always eat breakfast and eat two protein snacks a day and combine that with mostly berries (raspberries, black, blue, straw) and other low sugar fruits. I found that I begin craving the berries more than the bad carbs. Lunch and dinner is usually a lean protein and a vegetable or salad. It has made cooking much easier! Also, be sure to drink plenty of water. Just make it a habit to drink at least one full glass of water with each meal and at snacks.

This is just a method that has worked for me! Hope it helps you!

I'm 35. I joined last year after having my son. According to my BMI I was 50 pounds overweight.
I'n not very good with nutrition. I never did hit the Sodium goal until i got down to 1500 calories a day... and i still have days when I'm over. The Sugar is another i have problems with. Fruit and juice have a lot of it and MFP counts it even if it is easier to absorb than the processed stuff.

I found the best thing for me is to have a general plan (menu) for the day. Measuring out and pre-logging my meals when I go to work gives me an idea of what I will have left when I get home.

I think there are some groups just for people over 40. I would try one of them to get specific info there.

    Hi Val,

My names Jan, I have been on MFP for about 3 weeks now (previously lost 42lbs) and now have the last 10-14lbs to go. I'm 43 and like you have tried many diets many times before, but this site has been really helpful in teaching me how to make this fit in with life rather than fit your life around a diet.

Very happy to motivate you when you need it, congratulate you and commiserate with you, I am sending you a friend request ( it will be my first as I have been reading the boards but not yet found the courage to find friends). I think your avatar helped, see my ticker (they are so alike :-)

    Good luck
