I have a long battle ahead but the body in my profile pic is my motivation and what i'm leaning towards! How do I make sure I tone muscle as I lose? I do have just over 5 stone to lose whilst doing this and looking for someone who knows about the body and how to help me achieve this (i know it aint a race so I aint looking for quick fixers advice).. Thanks for any hep in advance

Do weight training as part of your exercise routine for sure! Don't worry - you won't bulk up.0

Lift heavy - it means you can eat more and keep your lbm, meaning you will continue to burn more calories. See these groups for some great info.

Also this is a great link to work out how many calories you need to lose healthily

I'm sure others will have good advice as well :flowerforyou:
Also take photos and body measurements - as sometimes the scales lie and you may not shift pounds - but knowing you are losing inches helps keep you motivated.
Also try not to lose too much too fast - I think you already know this from your post but that's the secret to losing fat not lbm.
Good luck with your journey. :drinker:

Definitely start lifting weights. Not 3 lb weights either. I go to the gym with my husband and do the same routine he is doing.
Start now, don't put it off. I waited until I was already close to my goal and I'm kicking myself that I could have kept a lot more muscle while I was losing if I'd started sooner (I knew that at the time but had medical stuff going on). It's a lot easier to keep your muscle while you lose than it is to gain muscle later, especially as a woman.0 -

Not a bad link or tip in the whole list! Plenty to read and understand. Much of it is worth a reread every now and then! Set realistic goals and you will get there and stay there!0 -

So when you are lifting heavy,(or as heavy as you can) don't you need a little cardio in between to burn fat ?0

Thanks newme1313 for advice and everyone else. Do I have to eat protein only or can I include other foods?
I shall check those links in a moment!0 -

I do 40/30/30 I think, carbs/protein/fat.
You can do cardio, maybe some intervals etc. I actually run (when I can be bothered) - but don't focus solely on it - lifting burns calories as well :laugh:0 -

and a little bit of this....0 -
your diet is most important
Diet is important, mines being shocking lately so I'm seeing strength increases but not fat loss - but to keep her lbm she need to lift as well. If all you did was focus on diet you would lose lbm as well as fat.0 -
