Hello, what is the best food to absorb the calories from alcohol? Will things like pasta and bread work, it's just these are already high in carbs so I need to find the right balance.

I may be incorrect but as far as I know you cant absorb the calories from alcohol out with food. You can absorb the alcohol so you are less hungover with things like bread or my personal fav- cheerios, but the calories count no matter what you eat with your drinks0

Yeah, I don't think you can "absorb calories". If you find the secret, please make sure to share because we would all love to do that sometimes.0

The best things to eat while drinking are proteins and minimizing carbs. In fact if you plan on drinking then try to make the day lower in carbs. Also, spirits and wine are better to drink too than beers. I will see if i can find the article that discusses this more.0

It's actually best not to eat whilst drinking. Your body cannot store the calories from alcohol, so they must be burned/metabolized immediately. When you drink, all other metabolic functions are put aside for your body to go to work on the alcohol. This means anything you do eat just goes straight to storage for your body to burn later...i.e. goes straight to fat stores because your body is too busy metabolizing the alcohol to metabolize the nutrients in your food stuffs.0

Greasy breakfast food.
Yes...and then if that doesn't cure the hangover you need a greasy cheeseburger and sweetened iced tea for lunch. And...no, you can not absorb calories with anything, except maybe your digestive system. Someone with more knowledge about the human body help me here! :drinker:0 -

This.
As soon as you drink the body gets to work on it. All else it put aside. The alcohol has a calorific value as well and your body tries to use that for energy. All that food you just ate? Yep, not needed for energy now as it has the drink. Worse yet, fancy some food after all that drink? Yep, body doesnt need energy now either so hello fat stores.
Alcohol doesnt make you fat. But the food you eat either side of it that isnt processed for energy does (afaik)0 -
I heard that if you swish a mouthful of oil in your mouth for 20 minutes, it extracts all the toxins and calories, and you can just spit them out into the sink.0

If it's beer, chicken wings. If it's wine then a little foie gras, cheese and crackers and if it's gins lots of Indian food. :bigsmile:0

You can absorb the calories with your thighs.0

I love red wine, pate and bread for a late dinner.
The French drink wine with dinner and they are not all fat. so I call BS, if it fits into your macros.........0 -
I generally opt for things like carne asada burritos, rolled tacos with guacamole, pizza, or a 3 am Denny's run. They don't exactly "absorb the calories from alcohol" - but then again, there's no such thing anyways.0

So, you're saying I should eat ALL the wings when I drink beer? Awesome.
Just kidding OP.
Nothing you eat will "absorb" calories. It all gets broken down in the gut.0 -
