Anyone else ever do nostalgic exercise?

So, I'm incredibly out of shape! So, I wanted to do something that I wouldn't end up hurting myself doing. Then I remembered certain exercise videos my mom had while I was a kid (such as Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the Oldies). I remember as a kid how much fun I had doing these with my mom. So I did Sweatin to the Oldies today and had a laugh doing so.

So, does anyone else ever remember fun exercises they did as a kid and do you incorporate those in to this day?

I really enjoyed it a lot and the memories it brought with it! :)

I just took my daycare sledding today. It was so much fun. I went down the hill with each of the kids multiple times. I definitely feel out of shape now. But is so much fun and they even fought over who got to go down the hill with me next!

I want to get healthier to be able to do more with them!

I do that exercise where you touch your fingers on the right hand to the toes on your left foot and then alternate. I think Jack Lalane used to do it on his show. (thats REALLLLLLY old) I keep thinking it will help whittle my waist but so far no luck - probably because I only remember to do it like once a week.

    I love this post x

As a kid, I used to walk through my local park to go to school and I used to run through it as I loved school so much.
I chose a uni close enough so I could still walk through the same park.
I bought my home near this park so I could still walk through it everyday.
Now I go to work, I walk through the same park everyday to catch the tube and it never fails to bring the childhood feelings in me.

That's 3 miles each way. Have walked it since school days. I am 30 now. I still love it as much as I did as a kid.

I do my old videos alot. I can't afford a gym membership and I get bored doing the same DVD's all the time so I whipp out my old VHS tapes that I did back in the late 80's early 90's. It was good excerise back then and still is now. Plus I feel alittle young again when I watch and do them

Old style pressups, pullups, close hand push-ups, rope climbing and Hindu vinyasa downward dog to cobra - all good golden oldies that still give great results.

When I hear the opening line 'can you feel it' it soooo takes me back to my Jane Fonda videos. I youtube s it the other day and was amazed to find how nostalgic her pink and purple striped leotard was. Reminded me of all the different coloured leggings and contrasting leotards I had- complete with marching belt of course!!!

Nope. I remember those days as the ones where fast full neck rolls and locking out your joints were encouraged. I have no desire to go back there and screw my neck and body up anymore than it is already.

Although, in fairness, I loved my old school boxing training. I could see myself going back to that as I get fitter, stronger and lighter. In my dreams, at least.

It's okay to do those routines once in a while, but many people who did the '80s aerobics routines suffered repetitive stress injuries.

Man, I would give a finger to be able to go to the roller rink. But they don't exist any more; the one I went to as a teenager is a hardware store now. Stupid rollerblades, ruining everything.

nostalgic exercise t me is stuff like double dutch, hula hoop, that ball and chain thing you'd put on your ankle and jump over, cartwheels, climbing trees, snowball fights, building snow forts, etc

i do cartwheels jump rope and hula, and i would love to try double dutch now
