Cup of Water - how much?

when doing my diary logging, there's an option to add cups of water, how many litres (or part of) is a cup of water? i usually drink from a 1.5litre bottle of water, if i drink half of it i know i've drunk about 750ml, but how many cups does that equate to?

1 liter is 33.8 ounces, and 8oz = 1 cup, if that helps.

    1 cup is 236ml so 6 cups for 1.5l, 3 for 750ml.

I've always been told not to stick to the 8 cups a day rule because that's so ambiguous. My track coach always asked that we at least drink half as many ounces of water as we weighed.

So I weigh 148 currently. I would half that: 74. Drink that many ounces, at least, daily and you'll be fine.

A 200 lb person should drink at least 100 ounces of water.
  • great stuff, thanks for your help, at least i know what to enter now x

A cup is a unit of measure...how is 8 cups ambiguous?

1 cup = 250 mL (at least according to my measuring cups!)

Close enough. That's a metric cup. A US one is ~237 ml.
Probably because a US gallon is 19/23rds of a real one.

If your urine is a light straw color, almost clear, then you're properly hydrated. If not, keep drinking. I go through nearly 1 gallon/day.
    Crazy.

I think they mean- 8 cups for someone that is 100 pounds or 8 cups for someone that is 300 pounds? That is a big difference in weight and should be a big difference in water.

I have never heard this before. But it totally makes sense.

Y'know, I'd not really thought about this. I've been drinking 8 glasses (16oz/glass) of water. O_o Oopsies on double water! Oh well, it appears to be working! =D
