I always spend a few hours on Sunday's preparing things for the week ahead. That is when I take the time to wash and chop veggies and put them in portioned baggies for "grab and go" lunch and snacks for weekdays. A great filling item is just plain 'ol almonds . . . with a few walnuts thrown in . . .
We tend to only "perimiter" shop and don't even go down many of the isles too.0 -
I am sure you have heard this tip before but it bears repeating. Stay to the perimeter of the store as much as possible. This should be fruits and veggies, meats, dairy. Of course, in the Publix I go to that also includes wine, but that's another story
I understand getting snack packs for the ease of taking to work and on the run, just make sure you aren't relying on them for too many of your calories. It may take a little effort to cut up some melon and pack it in a baggie or make a turkey sandwich, but in the long run that will be better for you.

I like go ahead slices, or weight watchers biccies for my snacks0

I like to take apple sauce, or those dole fruit cups in my lunch for a sweet snack.0

I make 3 weeks worth of healthy muffins and freeze them taking out only what I need for a week. I've also taken to making chewy oatmeal bars from scratch. You can add in whatever you like, nuts, dried fruit, dark chocolate. Staying away from processed food has changed how I feel dramatically and is nice on the pocketbook too.0

One of my new favourite snacks is Wasa crispbread and natural unsalted peanut butter. 2 of the crispbread (light rye) and 1 tbsp of peanut butter have 160 calories, good fat, protein and fiber. I find it to be quite filling and enjoyable!0

Chocolate Vitatops, Dannon Greek Yogurt, Bagel Thins, Sandwich Rounds, Frigo Light String Cheese Heads and 1/2 Pound of Boars Head Honey Maple Turkey, Pickle Slices, Low Fat Aunt Jemima Frozen Pancakes, Smucker's Sugar Free Breakfast Syrup , Smart Ones Desserts, Cracked Pepper & Olive Oil Triscuits and Hummus...0

First, I'd like to discourage you from getting the 100 calorie packs. They're the real stuff, just smaller portions, so you're going to still be hungry. They won't fill you up because they have the sugar, carbs, and other stuff your body doesn't need. I would say for snacks, go with fruits and veggies (get a dip for the veggies if you have to. Hummus is great on carrots, or you could get fat free ranch or whatever you'd like...salsa is another great option, very low calorie & GREAT for you since it's all natural). One snack I LOVE is reduced fat triscuits with a slice of avocado on top, sprinkled with a tiny bit of salt to bring out the flavor of the avocado. YUM!
Almonds are also great...they're high calorie and high fat but soooo good for you. The fat in them is the fat you WANT, and that can even help you lose weight. Another great snack option that I LOVE. One green apple dipped in 2 tbsp natural peanut butter (I get the freshly ground kind at the grocery store in the organic aisle). Easy way to use up some calories and SO delicious.0 -

This is exactly what I do! Sunday is shopping day, and preparation of 5 lunches for the week. I bring celery/peanut butter, baby carrots, tuna is really high in protein for work-out days, I mix 1 can of tuna with cherry tomatoes, and 2 tablespoons of mayo, and 2 tablespoons of slivered almonds, and it is really good tuna salad. Also mini chocolate rice cakes our good low cal snacks, no sugar added delmonte fruit cups, kozy shack rice pudding cups, Eas powerbars, we boil a whole pack of eggs for the week and just remove the yolks, bagel thins....alll these things are really easy to pull out everyday, or they come in pre-packaged cups and very easy to grab to add to your lunches.0 -
they dont sell them everywhere but Blue Diamond All Natural Almonds 100 Calorie packs are awesome! great grab and go snack, also fiber plus bars are only 120 calories and they are pretty filling because its fiber!0

What about nuts?
Veggies, fruit???
Greek Yogurt?
Granola, trail mix?
I am probably one of few people that doesn't get the whole 100 calorie pack of garbage.0 -
Awesome again friends!! I have a goodl ist to go by thanks to you all: i'm going to load up on baby carrots, peanut butter, granola, fresh fruit although i'm not sure which yet bananas or something else, granola, bran muffins, salmon, turkey, tilapia, chicken and veggies. Oh and few of you all mentioned hummus, gotta try that!0

I love hummus with my veggies, and I also like it on my sandwhiches instead of mayo--less calories and still very yummy!0

HUMMUS, HUMMUS and HUMMUS!! It is awesome and great with veggies: cucumber, baby carrotts, brocolli, grape tomatoes, sliced up bell pepper's.0

I concur about getting hummus. My fave of all time is the Trader Joe's Chipotle Pepper hummus. I eat it with tummy sweet red peppers. Two tablespoons is only 50 calories and it taste so good I feel like I am getting away with something.
But I also agree about staying away from the 100 Calorie Packs. They really are just the real deal bad-for-you-snack in a smaller package. You get less for your caloric buck and will end up feeling cheated. I also love cherries. Since you have to eat them one by one they trick the mind...at least my mind...into thinking that I am getting more than I really am. And about 30 or so cherries is 100 cals. How is that for a true 100 calorie pack!?0
