HELP Blisters on feet from running (pics included )

This blister developed when I started running outside. It was just a blister then it started to turn brown. I bought some of those DR Sholls blister band aides but they don't stay on. Now I have another blister developing under this one. How can I get rid of this and keep it away. And is it normal for them to turn brown ???

I've had blisters on the bottom of my feet before--not exactly in the same place as yours, though.
Couple of things to try:
1. New socks. There are double-layer socks that help prevent blisters--your foot will slide cloth-on-cloth instead of against the shoe. The brand I know off the top of my head is Wright, but there may be others.
2. Vaseline, Body Glide, or chamois cream on your foot. Lube it up before you run, especially before long runs.
3. New shoes. Last resort, because you want to get value out of the ones you have, especially if they're otherwise comfortable. But you're likely getting blisters because your foot is moving within the shoe, so you may need a tighter shoe. OR--and try this first! you might just need to relace them for a better fit.

I have those blisters in the exact same place.... I left them alone and my skin finally made a callus there. I don't have dainty pedicured girly feet... I dont mind mine being tough as nails. I soaked my feet in epsom salt water but didnt let the blister pop and let the swelling go down then the callus keeps it from coming back since the skin is tougher now. Ive tried many different shoes and they all do this to my feet. I think there's some stick on moleskin you can buy in the footcare section of most stores (i.e., wal-mart for me) that may work better.0

THanks I love my shoes but I think they may be a tad big but me feet tend to swell so they put me in a half size bigger other than that I am loving the shoes. Maybe I need to try new socks. I do the vaseline thing before I go out0

This is what I came here to say.
I wouldn't buy new shoes unless it becomes too much of an issue but i would consider other shoes the next time you buy. I have bunions which makes finding shoes hard. I still run in ones that give me blisters but the Vaseline/body glide does wonders. Only have issues on my long run.0 -

Good running socks and your shoes should fit tight enough so your feet aren't sliding. They make some really nice socks especially for runners with cushioning in the feet that wick sweat away.0

Yes, they sometimes turn brown. If the blister is unbroken then it's nothing to worry about. It just means that there is a mixture of blood and serous fluid inside.
If you're going to be very active, you can still give your blister a chance to heal. Your best bet is to cushion the blister (cut out a piece of Second Skin or sterile gauze that's slightly larger than the blister) and then use a large, flexible bandage to hold it in place (I like Elastoplast, which is sturdy cloth but also bendable). At night, when you're not on your feet, it's better to leave it open to air.
Once your blister is healed, the previous posters had some good suggestions about preventing future blisters.0 -

My opinion is it's all about the socks. I run exclusively in DryMax socks. You should be able to find them at a store that caters to runners and running gear. Blisters aren't just about friction, but more about moisture buildup. DryMax socks are so effective at wicking moisture away that they actually come out of the washing machine dry. The most important sock rule is NEVER WEAR COTTON! Cotton socks will hold the moisture and cause blistering. You definitely need socks that move the moisture away from your feet.0

I used to have good luck with 3M waterproof tape. It's spongy & strechy so it really stays on-just wrap it all the way around so it will stick to itself & you'll be good for at least 10 miles.0

Hi, Is this on the base of your foot, near the heel?
Blisters are normally caused by friction so I would try all the suggestion people have made, sock etc. If the trainers seem to fit try different lacing techniques on your shoes to prevent slippage, google can churn out many alternatives.
If it is on your heel maybe look at your running action, if your landing on your heel a lot this could be causing problems.0 -
Could be that your feet are shrinking.. and your shoes just dont fit anymore. I have a whole new wardrobe of shoes that my feet had "swollen" out of that look great now, but my sneakers are loose.
I have 2 pairs of socks, they slide against each other, so no blisters0 -
You know I was wondering if my feet might be shrinking. Because my walking shoes have felt big lately. I used to be a sz 6 then after baby number four I went all the way to an 8 . But I can fit some 7 1/2 tennis shoes but my Saconey running shoes are an 8. I was fitted at soul to sole. THink I may need to look into these special socks right now I am wear some asic's socks I got at soul to sole.0

I had a similar issue and got an insole insert that's thicker than the one that came in the shoe, and it seemed to "tighten" the fit. No blisters since.0

If you're wearing cotton socks ditch them and buy synthetic. Cotton is Rotten! I have several,pair of thorlo socks. They're really thick, synthetic, and comfy. They don't always stop blisters but it cuts them down significantly. Also do body glide and/or Vaseline like someone suggested. That works well too.0 -

I started getting running blisters, switched to "feetures" running socks and haven't had one since! Best wishes. Those blisters aren't any fun to run with for sure!0
