My parents decided that going to a all you can eat Chinese Buffet would be the best choice for a family get together...
How am I going to know what I eat, how much, and how many calories? I'm stressing out...

Don't bother worrying about it, just enjoy the day, try & be a bit sensible in choices, not "eat all can" and remember tomorrow is another day and continue from where you were
PS I sort of pigged out in Winchester today with son and family, so I do follow my own suggestions. Back on track tomorrow0 -
Just estimate it, and get in a good workout today or tomorrow to offset any damage.
Don't worry about it, it's one day, enjoy the time with your family!0 -
If you know what you tend to eat at buffets like that, you can try estimating calories from the MFP food database. You'd have to eyeball amounts, but if you're really stressed about it, it could give you at least a rough guideline. But I'd say, enjoy yourself, eat in moderation, maybe fit in an extra workout, and carry on! One meal won't make or break anything.0

Don't stress out. I will be completely honest Chinese buffets are a killer.
Try to stay away from anything overly processed.
Do one plate with tiny portions and don't go back up. Eat only until you are full and then stop. Eat something healthy now before you go and that way you will be less hungry when you arrive. Drink plenty of water to fill you up.
Have a good time and try not to stress, one meal will not kill you. Just eat reasonable and buck up for the rest of the week. I know my Chinese buffets always have salad as an option and I try to fill up on that. =]0 -

Stick to the veggies, no deep fried or breaded ANYTHING and remember that sushi has a lot of calories cuz of the rice. Eat sensibly and you will be fine.0

Don't eat!
You realize you pay to get in right? Lol.0 -
Your life will be full of these types of meals. Either figure out your own coping mechanism or sit home. We all have to learn a way to negotiate these things.
I just don't stress about it. Eat a little less than you used to. Eat a little less tomorrow.0 -

Aw man, I love breaded shrimp!
I dont like sushi or a lot of rice though.
I just wish I knew what to log for calories.0 -
Dont fill your plate up. Get what you think you need on your plate and walk away from the buffet. Focus on your food, so you will know when you are full. Of Course drink water. And get a good exercise in today or tomorrow! You will A. OK!0

I did this on Friday. I ate what I wanted and presumed about 750 cals a plate. It's one day. Unless you plan to go to the chinese buffet every day then I wouldn't panic too much.0

I know this site is about eating healthy and losing weight etc, but once in a while it wont hurt to not concern yourself with it to that degree. Enjoy the food, and eat what you fancy and savour the flavour. You may find foods you loved before, just dont hit the spot anymore.
We had Mothers Day in UK and I ate foods I could not calculate calories. Im not worried, I used an educated guess but hey ho, tomorrows another day
Hope you had fun0
