So hard to stay motivated

I lost 40 pounds and gained it all back immediately after. Fitness takes so much time and effort, it is hard to accept that I'll have to put all this work into it forever! Well, I'm going to try it again, and maybe this time I will be able to stay motivated.

Don't loose hope! You can do it!
Weight loss is so hard, but everything worth doing is hard. How did you loose the weight to begin with? Was it diet or exercise or what?

I used the Zone diet, plus treadmill and hand weights. This time I am not planning to be so strict about sticking to the Zone, but still leaning in that direction. Also I'm going to try to lose weight slower, so as not to stress my body or my mind so much.

Also, I'm hoping that sharing with friends on a site like this will help me to stay motivated.

Having support is a huge help. Perhaps loosing slower is the way to go. I don't know the Zone diet - but I've found that any 'diet' that involves using supplements or buying branded foods doesn't work in the long run as you will always want to return to 'normal' foods. Personally I found that smaller portions and a food diary like fitnesspal is key to just eating less and more sensibly.

    Good luck!

The Zone diet is *mainly* about eating 30% protein, 30% fat, and 40% carbs (that is, percentage of calories). I sometimes found it hard to get that much protein. I'm not going to sweat it as much this time, but still try to pay attention to eating protein. I don't really enjoy lean meats that much, though. Or meat in general. Or protein in general. I love carbs and fat. :p

Welcome! I find that being on a site like this is quite helpful. I also have suffered a lack of motivation and gotten into bad habits at different times but overall if you make certain habits and keep them up, once you reach your goal weight you should be able to keep it off. Things like walking and eating less processed foods are good life long habits that are not too tough to sustain.

    Best of luck!
