grains and cravings

I have been craving breads huge time lately, as I do have breads when I eat out, but not in our home. The exceptional being is
McCains extra thin pizza crusts.

Having country harvest 12 grain yesterday for our company, really helped with the craving huge time.
So if any of you sprinkle grains on your food or salad, or make a good 12 grain, which grains would you use?

I was thinking of a light sprinkling of Sunflower seeds, sesame seed. flax seeds, on salads or foods. Suggestions Welcome.

Why don't you just eat the 12 grain bread?

I do try to choose the healthier, less processed option most of the time, but really any high carb food that satisfies me with a single standard sized serving, doesn't trigger the munchies, and fits within my calorie budget is OK in my diet. The only non-sweet carbs that consistently fail any part of that are baked russet potatoes, which give me an all but irresistible urge to go bake a batch of brownies. Good whole grain bread doesn't do that to me, though, and it doesn't sound like it does it to you either.

Hubby has asked to remove bread almost 2 yrs, as it is a huge problem for him. I also find that I will eat to much bread if it is our home. Having limited bread in our home has been a big help to myself also.

For me, it doesn't matter what grain I eat, but how much of it. If I get more than 5kcal net carbs at any one time, I find I start to crave more starches and sweets. I cut out wheat totally from my diet because even a bite or two and I have a hard time stopping. It's a big binge trigger for me.

I'm that way about most starchy sweets like cookies and cake. I can easily go through an entire package of fig newtons in one sitting, or stuff down pound cake until I'm sick. I don't have too much difficulty controlling myself around ice cream, though.

OP, can you eat oatmeal? Brown rice? Sweet potatoes?

You might find something in the cracker aisle of the grocery store. I buy a Crunchmaster brand oven baked cracker made with rice flour and sesame seeds to go with soups and salads. They're wheat free and gluten free if it matters, but I buy them for the sesame seeds.

I mostly eat whole wheat bread or Bavarian rye bread. I find I don't crave carbs if I stick with them. If I eat White Bread, like if I go to a restaurant and give me a roll I am done for. Cookies etc. are poison for me. There is no stopping me at all. I think it's possibly the combination of the added sugar as well. I remember reading once that white flour turns into sugar once you digest it. I don't know if that is true or not and they suggested that is what sets up the cravings. I have tried to stay away from "white flour" items for quite a few years now for the most part. When I have cereals I opt for the whole grain types such as Flax Plus or Rasin Bran or something along those lines. Things with a high fibre content also help to fill me up.
