Charity Miles

Just starting g on my weight loss program my wife and I decided our joint exercise would be walking a couple of miles every night. Hopefully we could work our way up to jogging. Since I am the tech geek in the family she tasked me with finding a decent tracking app for our phones. I found a couple that do a great job, but I also came across www.charitymiles.org.
Charity miles gets sponsors and donates money to a charity of your choice per how many miles you walk. It gives your charity 25 cents for every mile you walk or run and 10 cents for biking miles. Not a ton of money, but for something I was going to do anyways. Because my daughter is autistic, we chose autism speaks.
2 negatives to the app: 1. It requires you let it post on Facebook. I typically hate that type of thing on my Facebook page. 2. It works off the GPS, so no treadmill users for now.

I just found out about this and was going to mention it I looked at the itunes app for it and it says now it doesn't require you to log in with Facebook. I have an android phone though and I just set my post to be visible to only me. I'm going to see if my kids want to download it too. At least the weather is getting nicer (at least where I am, even though it's supposed to rain most of this week) so walking outside won't be such a pain now.
I think it's a wonderful idea for something I'm already doing. And I don't have to give any money! Bonus!! My charity is Wounded Warrior Project.0 -
I love the Charity Miles App! It calculates the distance and time of your walk, run, or cycling. I typically choose to walk for the Wounded Warrior Project. It motivates me to get off my butt and get moving. Any little bit that I can give to these soldiers that have sacrificed so much for us the better!0
