Who is eating an entire Pie Thursday

So Thursday is 3/14 also known as pie day in the nerd world. To celebrate me and my co-workers are going to go consume an entire pie. I believe that most pie is made with all natural ingredients so I believe that this will fit in well with my clean eating. Who else is down with our celebration?

Nope, no real pie. I will however be baking massive amounts of pie inspired cupcakes at work. Apple, banana cream, boston cream, key lime, lemon meringue... I'm salvating already. P:

I've been told that I have to make several pies and consume them all by myself. I tend to do what I'm told.

It's clear I have a major saboteur in my life.

I always eat pie on pie day, but I totally forgot it was coming up! I will not be eating an entire one, but I'll have a big slice. Maybe apple pie or oreo pie or cherry pie. mmmmmm...pie.

No one said how big the pie needs to be. I could eat about a dozen little strawberry tarts.

I'm going to a taping of "The Chew" on Thursday. I'm hoping it's a pie episode!

I wouldn't want to eat a pie that fits into healthy eating. If I'm going to eat pie, I want the good stuff and that isn't as healthy as you think... Besides Pi day is in march and the Pie day is the 4th Thursday in November so it's not like you live off of pie...

And I'm gonna be in New Orleans for Vacation on the 14th so some unhealthy pie is definately in order, made with too much sugar, lots of Pecans, and plenty of burbon...

Pie crust tends to be lard, white four and salt. The innards are usually, fruit, sugar and some kind of thickener. Thickeners can include tapioca, gelatin and corn starch. Pecan pie is pecans, corn syrup, eggs and butter.

For most clean eaters, the white flour is the biggest issue with that list, followed by the corn syrup.

I once had a friend celebrate her pi to the pi birthday. We included quiche and pizza, as well as meat pies in the potluck.

Which raises the question? Do pasties and empanadas count?

I'm going to guess you mean "pastries"? Although I bet there are edible pasties... ;)

No, I meant pasties, but not that kind! Pasties are basically individually sized meaties, kind of like a calzone.

and it's pronounced differently -- the little meat pies are "pass-ties" while strippers wear "paste-ies"

I forgot all about Pi day but coincidentally I made a Shepard's pie for the week! I think I want to make a fruit pie too though. I have been craving a cherry-peach pie!

I thought pasties went on strippers...
