It is yogurt but it is thicker, creamier, fat free more protein in one serving. Try Dannon and StonyField Oikos either in the dairy/yogurt section OR the organic foods isle at the regular grocery store!

I just tried Fage 0% yogurt. It's wonderful. It's creamy, not runny. I got mine at a Market Fresh Kroger store. I also mixed honey and rasberries in it. YUM! I'm getting hungry, I think I'll get some now.

I get mine from Wal-mart, but i have also seen it at Publix grocery store and others. Dannon Greek is the cheapest I have seen. In my opinion it is creamier than regular yogurt and something about the taste is different that i can't quite put my finger on, but it's a good different. The major reason that i like it better than regular yogurt is because it has less sugar and more protein than the regular. It's definitely worth a taste test.
  • Let me just say that I am normally NOT a yogurt fan...but I LOVE Greek yogurt!!! I particularly like the Chobani fruit on the bottom yogurts, yuuummmmmmmmmm. Greek yogurt is strained, so it is much thicker than regular yogurt (think spoon stands up in the cup thick). It has twice the protien of regular yogurts. Greek yogurt provides a really good combo of carbs and protien.

I buy mine at Publix here in Florida, but I would think it could be found at just about any supermarket. FWIW, I tried the Yoplait Greek yogurt and did NOT like it. Fage is also a good brand to try.

Greek yogurt is unsweetened, and strained. It is not sweet, and is very thick. I like the individual cups (Fage 2% is sold in most stores) and they come with a flavored mix-in like honey or a fruit flavor. Note, the mix-ins are more corn syrup/fake stuff than actual fruit. It may not be the most decadent thing when you first try, but the sugar, sugar substitutes, and preservatives that make regular yogurt taste like desert, is exactly the stuff you don't want in your body!

It's also a great stand-in for sour cream!

Oh my gosh...it is SO much better than regular yogurt! It is creamier, tastes better and the ingredients are more natural (less processed) Depending on what you get, my fave has been the Brown Cow brand. You'll have to check your local grocery stores or health food stores to see if they carry it. You'll be amazed at the difference! I don't like the taste of regular yogurt - plus there is so much sugar, etc. in it. I wish I knew more information about the differences between the two, but I don't. I'd have to research it further. I just know it TASTES better and the ingredients seem to be more unprocessed.

I love to buy the 0% Fage greek yogurt. I either put half a cup of it in my fruit protein smoothies (makes it almost like a milkshake!) or I eat it plain with sugar free strawberry preserves. It's delicious! I prefer to buy it without the fruit or honey and just add my own. The preserves that I use are 10 calories for a tablespoon. It's a really filling snack, it was my dessert last night :D

It's very tasty. This is from someone who hates to eat yogurt. Since my weight loss journey (45.5 lbs.) I have a Greek yogurt at least once a day. I like mine with fresh strawberries or you can buy it with fruit. Faye is the best I have found. Has a taste similar to cottage cheese (which I don't care for either). I also buy Chobani, but it has sugar. You need to try the brands that is right for you. Greek ygurt is suppose to be better than regular yogurt. Check out the ingredients whenever you buy.:flowerforyou:

Today I tried All Natural Brown Cow Greek yogurt for the first time. I had been hearing so much about greek yogurt I was excited to get it. It was more expensive ($1.19) and I chose this brand because it had the fewest calories 110cals per container. and.....drum roll please.......I REALLY LIKE IT. It was creamy and tasty. I actually think I like it better than my usual 'american' yogurt. lol. I mixed some grapes and apple slices into mine for a mid-morning snack. I will be buying it again!

If you take store brand plain yogurt and for example "Chobani" plain greek yogurt and just read the ingredients. You will see that in greek yogurt just cultured milk and yogurt bacteria. Regular plain yogurt has whole bunch of chemicals in it.:ohwell:
  • Honestly I don't like it really at all. I but and use in smoothies. But it makes my mouth dry or something I just really don't like it.

Theres a ton of benefits. I usualy buy Stoneyfeild's Oikos brand since they make the best yogurt...its thicker and doesnt have stabilizers, caregeenan, a ton of sugar or artificial coloring added to it like other yogurt. The best part is you can get plain greek yogurt with little to no fat and use it like sour cream! It almost tastes exactly the same, and would taste great on a baked potato, or as a sauce base for chicken curry or something. Yum!

I didn't like the flavor (but I didn't dislike it either).

But for some reason it provokes my gag reflex. I took a bit, swallowed, then threw up almost immediately (sorry for the TMI, everybody).

Ditto the benefits info. I, personally like the Stoneyfeild's Oikos brand since it's organic and comes in super yummy flavors (honey, caramel, blueberry) and I like that it comes in a 4 pack. I also use the plain in smoothies. I have also heard of the plain being used in place of sour cream. I would, but I don't really like sour cream.

I love Fage! Everyone at work kept bringing it in, and I felt left out with my stupid Yoplait lol! I really liked it. It tastes bland so you need to mix something in it. I like either Kashi cereal/granola, fruit, honey or a mixture! Good idea for putting it in smoothies, I may have to try that.
  • Greek yogurt is so thick it was a total shock. I didn't care for it as much but the fact that it is so high in protein and low in calories I decided to get creative with it I use the ff plain as sourcream on a bake potato and I also sometimes add frozen fruit and cinnamon or I use it in a smoothie.

    Hello all,

I see people have good reviews but I was not a fan on Greek yogurt. I tried yoplait brand but maybe I will try to get one of your brands at a later date.

Trader Joe's is the cheapest/tastiest that I have found. But when I don't make it there I do Yoplaits.
I ALWAYS buy the plain to save on sugar and add in berries (or if I'm really desperate, some honey) to sweeten it myself. That way it can also be used in other things like sauces or dips, too!
