Not hungry in the morning

I am never hungry before work. I have had to FORCE myself to eat cereal and fruit for breakfast. I was thinking about having some kind of smoothie/protein shake instead, to get a good amount of calories for breakfast.

Any easy recipes for smoothies?

Mix up some frozen banana, vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, and milk. It is SO good. :)
And the peanut butter gives you some nice protein to help fill you up.

Can you eat after arriving at work? maybe it won't be a struggle if you fix a breakfast wrap or toss some fruit and yogurt in your bag and eat it when you get hungry.

I use vanilla Whey protein (body fortress brand, 1 scoop has 26 grms protein) put in a handful of berries (any), 1/2 banana, 4 oz. orange juice ( or any kind) 2-3 oz. of lowfat vanilla yogurt, handful of crushed ice. blender...fabulous and low cal high protein

I'm the same way and I usually go the smoothie route. I've started using Rainbow Light Whey Protein Energizer--Vanilla - Protein Powder because I've been low on protein. It's the best powder I've tried so far. If I have time, I like to blend it with blueberries and frozen mango chunks. I use Almond Milk. When I'm in a real hurry though, I toss the milk and powder in a Smoothie Tumbler from Whole Foods, and the little metal ball inside mixes it pretty well. yum!

Vanilla yogurt & frozen fruit (strawberries, peaches, honeydew, grapes)

Vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, chocolate soy milk = YUM!

I'm just curious... do you have a history of skipping breakfast? I'm just asking because I did horribly at eating breakfast for years. I always thought I wasn't hungry and that when I did eat I just got hungrier, so if I could *not* eat and not be hungrier that was better! I've learned since then that isn't very healthy... and that of course I am hungrier after a tiny breakfast because my body wants more food for breakfast!

I still struggle sometimes with eating a lot for breakfast. I am working on eating some though... even if just a piece of fruit with cheese or peanut butter (I'm trying to have protein whenever I have carbs). This has been a hectic week and that has been my breakfast most days... but I have also grabbed tons of healthy snacks to eat an hour or so later. I wonder if you could do a smoothie for breakfast and then just make sure to grab some kind of mid-morning snack -- fruit or almonds or a hard boiled egg or something to last you through until lunchtime. :)

I never used to eat breakfast, I'm a coffee junkie. So, now that I am trying to get back on track, I've been having an atkins or slimfast shake for breakfast. They're quick and easy so it works for me (though a good smoothie is probably better for ya). It's usually around 9:00 or 10:00, so still probably later than most eat breakfast, but I feel atleast I am getting something in.

I have a book called "The Abs Diet". I only use it for the smoothie recipes in it. I use whey protein in them. I am the same as you, I am not hungary in the morning, but have to eat something to get your metabolism going.

Just some other ideas about eating in the AM. On days you have work (and no time to make anything) it's really easy to toast up an English muffin or Eggo waffle (or even just a slice of multigrain bread) and spread a tablespoon of peanut butter. Add some yogurt and fruit and you're pretty good. Lately I've been all about Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla yogurt with fresh blueberries and some granola (about 2 tablespoons) mixed in.
Also, if you like eggs you can boil a bunch on the weekend and have one in the mornings. It'd save you the time of having to cook eggs in the morning while still getting the healthy goodness of eggs. :)
I also like to make a breakfast sandwich. One English muffin, scrambled eggs (but still held together like an omelet) a slice of cheese, and 2 slices of sandwich ham. I've never tried it, but maybe you could make some ahead of time, freeze it, and then heat it up in the morning in the microwave. Add some fruit and you're good!

I used to be the same, not a breakfast eater. But since I've started here on MFP and gotten in the habit of eating breakfast and now if I don't eat something within an hour of waking up I'm STARVING. It takes a little while to re-train your body, but when you do then you can be on a better schedule/routine of eating.

Thanks for all the great tips!

I can eat when I arrive at work, but there is nearly 2 hours between when I wake up and get to work. (have to walk the dog, shower, etc etc). I will try some different smoothie-type variations :)
