Eating exercise calories when you don't normally...

So, I've been kind of a... bad girl this week. I've gone over my calories and fat several times this week with cravings. However, I've just started exercising again, everyday for at least 30 minutes (I started the 30 day shred on Tuesday) So essentially, I've been using my exercise calories this week whenever I go over. I've even been doing extra exercise just in case. Now, I don't normally eat my exercise calories when I do occasionally have them. Will this affect my weight loss?

If this makes anymore sense... I'm basically asking if I don't normally eat my exercise calories, and suddenly this week I've been relying on them, will I still lose weight?

I think I'm completely done with the cravings. I'm ready to get back on track. :)

  • You know, I posted a very similar question earlier this week and basically everyone said that there's no need to eat the extra calories. Only 2 people said that you "MUST EAT ALL YOUR CALORIES". I personally never meet my calorie goal unless it was a terrible day. I don't think it will effect your weight loss terribly, especially if it's just been this week. I wouldn't personally stress it too much, just make sure you back on track.

You should be fine if you are not exceeding the total calories allowed including your exercise calories. You may even kick start your metabolism and lose more this week.
You obviously are doing the right things
  • You may lose faster...and besides doing things at a varying rate confuses you body into not knowing how much food to store.

It shouldn't effect it. I personally eat my exercise calories or half of them at a minimum.

If you are not chronically under your cals don't worry about it. If you exercise 2 times a week and are under 100-200 calories but maybe you are over by a bit a couple times a week too - should be fine. If you are 4 days a week 300 or 400 or more under then you'll want to start eating them - especially if you are not over on the other days. My understanding at least :) Of course, not being over would be more ideal :) Me, today I'm over by 300 because I had an Oreo Cakester package. But, at least over by 300 is still a deficit.

Oh, I really hope I still lose weight this week. Never eat my exercise calories, and darn cravings have got me suddenly eating them. :( Maybe, just maybe it'll all work out for me tomorrow at my weigh-in. I'm really hoping to see a new number on the scale. Don't you just love it when you go down another ten? No more 260's!! I really want to see a 25-something. :)

I totally concur - I went in and had a bioelectric impedance analysis done at the local YMCA and it came back that with my current level of exercise and fat percentage - I need to eat 1600 calories a day - I average a workout burn of 320-350 calories a day. So I eat 1500-1550 a day if I exercise. If I do - I lose for that week. If I don't - well - I usually end up maintaining.

EAT the calories!! Your metabolism will thank u for it!! :flowerforyou:
