I don't much watch the show but I sometimes switch over during commercials on other shows or if nothing else is on, but I noticed that all of a sudden for the last couple weeks the contestants went from no shirts (for guys) and sports bras (for girls) to shirts and tank tops (which I am guessing are covering a compression type suit underneath from the looks of it) Why would they suddenly feel the need to make them appear skinnier than they are?

They probably suffer from excess skin after losing so fast and the directors/producers don't want people to see the negative side effects of losing as fast as the people on the show tend to0

I haven't watched it in ages until today. They've done that in every season. I think it's to conceal the skin. I know in one, one of the guys showed under to show the skin that hung, but they didn't have compression clothing on. I think that it's more to show the biggest impact of the weight loss.0

I would say the contestants would choose to wear those garments and I dont think at all they are making them look skinnier than they are...0

HA! All reality shows are fake. The contestants get NO choice in what they do if they want to stay on the show. The weight loss is real, but temporary for MOST contestants on the Biggest Loser. It motivates people sure, which is good. But what they are doing has been proven to not really be that healthy or maintainable.0 -
I only catch it once in a while. I assume they want to cover the excess skin b/c that wouldn't make good tv.0

i think it's because they want to shame the contestants as much as possible in the beginning. it's also the same reason why none of he women are wearing appropriate sports bras but are wearing generic over the head ones.
well maybe not so much shaming the contestants but shaming the other fat people watching the show0
