30 day shred pain - Help-What works for you?

I have been doing 30 day shred for 12 days now. I started Level 2 this week-end. I have skipped about 3 days including today. My upper back feels like it is on fire. It started hurting during level 1. Not sure if it's the push-ups, the weights, or both. I have used ice packs and icy hot balm. I have also taken pain medicine and muscle relaxers. I'm not sure what else I can do besides take a rest from 30 day shred and do something else. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what has worked for you. Also have pain in my left knee. Have also used the same remedies for this pain.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

My upper back really hurt too. I would suggest heat instead of ice. Just put a heating pad on your back for a while and it will help relax the muscles. If your taking pain meds make sure your taking an anti inflammatory and try to take it regularly. I like aleve because you only need to take one every 12 hours. I hope this helps and you feel better. Good job on getting to day 12!! It's a tough workout.

For your knee I would try to just be conscious about when your landing to not be landing on a straight leg. Keep a little bend in your knees. Especially on those jumping jacks and stuff. That's seemed to help me.

I have knee pain when I don't get all of the weight into my heels on my squats. If you can't lift up your toes while you are down, your weight is in the wrong place and your butt isn't far enough back. Lunges pretty much always hurt my knees because they are hard for me to do. My solution is to do them much more slowly than she does so I use good form. Fast lunges are a recipe for disaster for my knees. As to your upper back - I don't know why that should be hurting - maybe try lighter weights or no weights. If you are in that much pain, it's probably wise to take a short break or go back to level 1 and just skip Level 2.
  • you might be doing it to hard. My first day back at it I was sore, then I stopped over the weekend and went back at it yesterday and I was not sore. But then I am doing the shred plus her other vids...like kickboxing(three times a week) and shred, yoga(once a week) and shred, and abs(once a week) and shred.
