I feel like i don't have motivation sometimes. I workout/go running all the time, But I love food so much, this is my MAJOR downfall, I love to eat... Does anyone have any tips to keep you motivated, and tips on what to eat all day to satisfy your cravings, wether it is sweet, salty??? I am always bored at work which leads to my eating...... ANd weekends when im w/ my boyfriend. i eat as much as he does.... :-( Sometimes i just feel like a failure..... Ive lost weight b4, but now heavier than every i just feel lost with myself...I am not happy. :-(

What have you done to accomplish your weight loss goals?

I am the same, I LOVE to eat! The thing I found that help is when I NEED a sweet, I opt for the low cal items. Skinny cow has a great variety of ice cream which I have been stocking up on. The rest of the day I try to eat small things often like a hummus wrap, apples or cherries (just a few things off the top of my head).
Good luck! Feel free to add me as a friend :D
  • I agree.. I have a hard time motivating myself sometimes.. I have a hard time finding a time and place to exercise. I have 2 boys 4 and 6. they area handfull sometimes.. I get up at 5 am when my husband gets up and cannot motivate myself to get anything done. I usually work about 1 til close (10 or 11) so I dont get much sleep. I work at a gas station that has a deli so I am around food all day.. its hard to keep myself going if we are not busy. any ideas on what exercises or things I could do to get this weight off?? I appreciate any help!! thanks

My problem is the same - I love food and find it so hard to limit myself in certain situations - usually social situations, at restaurants, etc. My advice is to use this site to log everything. Even you if have a situation where you have a variety of foods (homemade, take-out, etc) that you won't find in the database, do your best to find something similar. Hold yourself accountable. It is the only thing that has worked for me - always having in the back of my mind that I am going to have to log whatever I eat or drink. The thing that has helped me is allowing myself the "freedom" of finding things in the database that might not be exact, but hopefully are close. If knew I had to try to calculate and enter every homemade, take-out, restaurant item, I would never do it. But I use my best judgment and try to be realistic, and it seems to work to keep on track rather than just skipping the logging.

Take this morning, for example. It is a rainy Sunday morning, I had breakfast at about 9:00. At 11:00, I was cleaning and cutting up fruit for the week. I felt like I was starving. Before I used this site, I would have reached into the cupboard for a handful of crackers, or maybe even decided to have a "small" dish of ice cream to tide me over. But knowing I would have to log it here for "the world" to see, I was able to hold off and only had a couple bites of watermelon.

Or the other day at a work related event with a buffet. When I logged, I found a pasta salad and a ceasar salad that seemed about right. I also found some generic cookies and logged those too.

Hopefully, you will soon see that slow but steady results really make a difference. This is the first time in several years that I have stuck with a "diet" and lost more than 5 pounds without falling of the wagon. Give it a try!

Keep almonds in your drawer at work, they balance out your blood sugar and satisfy hunger. Keep hand weights in your desk and pretend that work is what you do between power sets!! Sit on a ball instead of your chair, find fun little ways to break up your time, walks, persona;l little challenges. I was so bored at work once that I drew a hopscotch on the floor and insisted that everyone had to do it before entering the washroom, every one did and it was a lot of fun too! Very good friends of mine tell me they run so that they can eat. So if you are running keep it up. If you want quicker more dramatic results do intervals that take you to peaks where you work at 70% for two minutes, sprint for 90% for a minute and slow down for two minutes etc. I see huge changes to my body when I do this. Add new challenges there are a few great ones like the 200 sit ups (amazing) and the shred also amazing. Chat your negative feelings out. Get them out and keep them out. When it comes to the running listen to feel good, pumped up music and pound those walkways. You're not a failure you are having a blip, they happen to all of us. I always eat more than my husband but I can also take him in an arm wrestle. When I was learning how to drive the instructor used to say "look where you want to drive your car, even in a skid, steer your wheel in the direction you want it to go it will eventually get there! If you look in the ditch that is where you are headed my friend!

At some point maybe even tomorrow you will be encouraging someone else as they struggle. Know that this is what mfp is for and think of yourself as part of team with similiar goals all trying to help each other to the finish line!!!

    Yes You Can!!!

    I am not happy. :-(

That might be the key, are you looking at food for the answer to something else, to fill up something on the inside? I think alot of us have done this are still do it at times. Finding what we really need 'inside' is part of the process. So many of us have used food to fill the hunger that didn't have much to do with food at all. I'm doing inside work now and I seem far less obsessed with food than in the past.

I'm not sure finding a food to fill you up throughout the day is quite what you're looking for from reading your post when you mention not being happy but perhaps I'm off base.

I'm sure anyone who has dieted before feels like this at times. I've yo-yo dieted all my life. I've been big (over 16 stones, which is 225lbs+ for my American friends) and I've been slim (around 9 stones, which is 126lbs). A t the moment, I'm 192lbs and losing. I feel great but I'm wary of getting too excited over my weight loss because I've lost and gained some many times previously.

A book that I found helped me was Paul Mckenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' which sort of teaches you to enjoy food without over-eating, whilst losing weight.

I think the key to feeling good is accepting that you're human and there WILL be days when you go over your calorie allowance and/or don't exercise - just start again the next day.

I think a little bit of what you fancy does you good. I've lost 20lbs since joining MFP, over 30lbs since the birth of my son at Christmas. I've never denied myself anything that I've really craved. I just make sure that my diet is generally healthy so that if I want chocolate, I allow myself it.
