So something interesting happens when I go on the elliptical at the gym. After about a goo 10mins or so all my toes start to fall a sleep :noway:

Now i know what you might be thinking, take the weight off my toes? Well here's the thing I do not stand on my toes and use the machine. All I know is after about 20mins of this I find it really hard to want to finish my workout because the feeling just gets way to intense.

If it's simple, and you know the answer, I would really appreciate it. :flowerforyou:
I love this machine and want to continue using it but I need to fix this issue

If rudeness comes into play, that's your call if that's how you want to spend your time, so be it:laugh:

Thanks in advance MFP Pals!

Make sure you're not leaning forward into the machine. Lean back a bit, so more of your bodyweight is in your heels.

It happens to me too and I have to make sure that my weight is concentrated more in my heels.

This is common. I don't know the cause but I've read multiple posts about it on here.

That's normal...it has a lot to do with how tennis shoes are made and that they don't allow the "stretch" at the balls of your feet/toes for the motion. Adidas actually looked into making an elliptical specific shoe years ago to address that issue but decided not to go with it (my friend worked on the project).

Whenever it happens to me, I switch up my pace, or I switch up the areas I'm putting pressing on my feet (from my toes to my heels, or I stride a different direction until the blood flow goes back to normal).

Google it, you'll find tons of articles/info on it and suggestions for how to deal with it --- http://www.livestrong.com/article/412682-why-do-my-toes-go-numb-on-the-elliptical/

    Good luck.

The balls of my feet used to go to sleep after 20 minutes running. The solution: buy trainers that are half a size bigger than your usual shoes.

It happens because you are not lifting your feet off the pedal-things so the blood cant get to your toes as well. I get this issue too, and when it happens, I'll kinda step my foot higher than the elliptical will go every few seconds. I also noticed that i can go for 5 minutes, then step off and drink some water and walk around in a little circle, then step back on, it keeps it from happening. Its a nuisance, but it makes my toes feel better haha

This used to happen to me when I was on the elliptical quite a bit. I took a break from the elliptical in favor of running and just went back to nurse a sore foot. This time, I have not had numb toes. The only difference is the shoes so it's probably either shoes or just the frequent repetitive elliptical use.
I'm not sure how to make it stop, but you might try different shoes or mixing some other activity in for a bit to give your toes a break.
