Brand new here, of course, so here is my introduction for your pleasure.
I am 34 and have 2 kids; 6yr old step-daughter and 18 month old miracle baby boy. I live in Oklahoma and am likely to type a ya'll here and there and maybe over yonder too.
Um, I'm overweight, technically obese, though I am fitter than many of my skinny friends (don't tell 'em I noticed). Lately I have been told it looks like I have lost weight, but I have actually gained a few more in the last couple months, bringing me to 213 this morning. So, I decided it was time to get serious, and here I am.
I haven't ever tried just counting calories. It always seemed too simple. At one time, I was maybe 120 pounds (too little for my body type). Back then I was a hitch-hiking vegetarian hippy, carrying a 100-pound backpack down the road and through the woods. Man, have things changed!
That was close to 12 years ago, and the weight has slowly crept on, till I leveled just over 200 like 4 years ago. Several diets and exercise programs have lost me after a couple weeks. I just kind of lose my motivation. I'm hoping a community like myfitnesspal will help me stay motivated and accountable.
Well, let's get started

I like your attitude. Because of MFP, I've kept on track for longer than usual. I used to just diet with my Mum and not last a week. MFP has definitely contributed to my determination. :D

Welcome to the team, so to speak.

I'm also liking your mini goals. Got some good rewards there.

I figured since part of getting healthy includes being more active, I should try to reward myself with being active in fun ways that I used to enjoy, and my family will have fun with too. Although... I did have to reward just me too :)
It's nice to meet you and I'm glad to see that someone else is up at this awful hour.

    Hi

Hope you are getting ready to concur the world on this site. I will tell you with some strong determination and the will to succeed you will go far. I have done well by logging all my food. It helps to do it before you eat it (you will be surprise how many calories are in things) I check, check and recheck the calorie content because they are not always accurate on the site. I am not a big exercise person (very hard to fit it in most days) . I work out abit with my WII (too much fun) I started by calorie level at 1200 but after a few weeks I discovered that it was far to low so I brought it up to 1430 and I lose 1 pound a week almost like clockwork. I hit the wall a couple times and did not lose for the week then the following week it got its MoJo back and off it came. I can tell you that I do budget for a treat ( I love Yoplait delights chocolate raspberry) There is a really good web site hungry girl.com tons of recipes for some yummy food (one of my favs is chicken cordon blu ) I really began to have more energy at about 20 pounds off. It is funny because the body changes slowly but its cool to discover all the new things that you have (or to be more exact the things you don’t have) like one less roll on your tummy or hey I forgot I have dimples in my cheeks J Again you can do it just hang in there an be patient.

Let's Go! I"m right there with you! I've just started a couple weeks ago, and am still trying to get used to adjusting my food/calorie intake. But I'm here for the long haul, and happy to be here. I love this site!
Friend me, if you like; I have 50 lbs to lose.

My favorite is Apple Turnover, followed by banana cream pie. I'll have to try the chocolate raspberry next week though. Sounds good. My dog loved it tonight, he got a 30 minute evening walk, without kids tugging on him. First for both of us, and i think that's gonna be my every day. I was disappointed that jumping on a trampoline is not listed onsite for exercise, but I just substituted jumprope. Easy exercise is the way for me ~ I'm actually more surprised to see how little calories I'm eating. The last two days showed green calories and red everywhere else. It's gonna take some experimenting I'm sure.
