Severe sweet tooth!

I have the most serious sweet tooth ever! like all the time! its the ONLY reason why i am over weight. i looove chocolate and anything else sugary. but obviously this needs to stop. does anyone have any suggestions that i can satisfy the cravings with something thats not gonna sky rocket my caloric/sugar intake? please and thank you

I used to drink a lot of Coke Zero and that gave me a huge sweet cravings. Once I cut it way back that made a difference. Other stuff like ice cream I just had to quit cold turkey. Sometimes its just the joy of hormones, too.
I used to eat so much milk chocolate. Now I will get a few squares of dark chocolate of good quality and eat it very slowly and really enjoy it.0 -
Can't say enough about Quest Bars. Soooo good to satisfy sweet cravings. Packed with protein and low on carbs as they're jacked with fiber!0

I have a huge sweet tooth also...it's HUGE! If I could I'd make sundaes all the time with chocolate, caramel sauce...I love to bake, I love cookie dough, oreos and milk...fancy coffee drinks...candy! I have found that if I could look at something like a motivation picture that helps and if not, a frozen banana tastes kind of like ice cream, suar free or low calorie hot chocolate packets...mints...waldens(sp?) farms makes a chocolate sauce...it's ok but sugar, carb and calorie free!0

I do too. I would prefer to eat dessert for all my meals. I've done a few things. I will bake only 2 cookies from cookie dough that I have in the fridge. I portion out chocolate chips and a tbsp of peanut butter and nibble on that. As much as some say the 100 calorie snacks aren't good, they do come in handy. I do not deny myself anything or else I could potentially do worse damage. Moderation as cheesy as it sounds. I've tried pineapple and certain fruit, but that doesn't work for me So I have to have myself a treat. And it is daily. If you come up with anything please let me know!0

You can try other healthy versions of things like cake and cookies and things like that. I make a chocolate peanut butter mug cake when i have a lot of extra calories left over. Its about 330 cals per serving, but doesn't have flour or sugar in it! and has 34g of protein! I love them!0

I found a couple low-cal sweet treats on Pinterest recently. One is a frozen hot chocolate and the other was a vanilla mocha frappe. I believe 50 - 80 per serving. They have lots of recipes for one mug stuff that you can fit into your meal plans. Best wishes!0

I like to freeze a banana, then add vanilla almond milk, walnuts, and unsweetened shredded coconut into a food processor and it makes a delicious low calorie treat!0

I'm addicted to chocolate myself, it's been 33 days since I had some. Lately, I usually get Artic Zero frozen desserts; you get about 37 calories per 1/2 a cup and about 150 calories per pint. They're low in sugar as well...0 -
Have you tried the skinny cow bars? They are the only way i can kick my sweet tooth without feeling guilty. The chocolate waffer bar is delish!!0

Sometimes an "un sundae" works for me, any fruit of your choice and any nuts topped with chocolate syrup (1-2 tbsp only). The fruit and nuts fill you up and the chocolate syrup gets the sweet tooth. Also try with yogurt or frozen whipped topping. Also a tsp of nutella and a tsp of peanut butter together...it's super sweet and filling. I try to just have less of whatever dessert I am craving....purposely share with others ( I never used to share dessert but it really helps). Try Cooking Light for lightened up recipes0

Idk exact calories on this but it's a weight watcher recipe and only 1 point. 1 full chocolate graham cracker broke in half, put 1 tblsp fat free cool whip on it and put top half of graham cracker on top. Freeze. Taste just like an ice cream sandwich, maybe even better!!0

I mix cottage cheese or greek yogurt with a tablespoon of instant sugar free pudding powder. The cottage cheese tastes like pudding and the yogurt comes out like a mousse.0

Try mixing 1/4 cup Fage Greek Yoghurt 0% with 1/4 cup Light Yoplait Banana Creme Pie Yoghurt, add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and fruit of your choice. I use a sm. amount of blueberries (lots of sugar in them), and 5 med. strawberries (cut into bite size pieces). Stir gently and enjoy! For special occasions, just add topping of Light Whipped Cream. Uuummm good....0

two things i use i love the sugar free creamsicles 40 calories per serving. Also i will make myself a bannan, almond milk with a tablespoon of dark chocolate smoothie. or i have a ripe mango totally kicks my sweet tooth. hope this helps.0

Ok, this sounds strange, but I adore hot jello to cure a sweet craving!
One mug full of boiling water mixed with a packet of sugar free jello powder plus a handful of ice cubes to cool it off a tad.

Atkins makes a great bar Peanut butter fudge crisp bar. 150 cals, 8 g of fiber , 1 g sugar, potassium 110, 10 g protein. Sodium is a little high at 160 Its really tasty....and hits the spot when I want reeses peanut butter cups.0

Me too!! So glad to read this. I have a couple things.... one is low fat greek yoghurt with frozen berries stirred through, its amazing. Another is to make a mug of chocoalte or vanilla custard, thick and satisfying but without masses of sugar/fat. The last is from a blog ive found - its healthy cookie dough dip

(No sugar!) Cookie Dough Dip
It’s gluten-free, too.
Inspired by my blog’s most-popular recipe.
* 1 1/2 cups chickpeas or white beans (1 can, drained) (250g after draining)
* heaping 1/8 tsp salt
* tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda
* 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
* 1/4 cup nut butter of choice (You can get away with using only 3 tbsp. If you use peanut butter, some people say it has a slight “pb cookie dough” taste, so you can sub oil if you don’t want that.)
* 1 and 1/4 cups pitted dates (I used SunMaid, from a regular grocery store)
* 1/3 cup chocolate chips (see link below, for sugar-free option)
* 2 tbsp oats (You can omit if desired.)
* milk of choice as needed (depending on the consistency you want. I used a few tbsp.)
In a bowl, cover the dates with 1/2 cup water. Let this sit for at least 8 hours. Then add all ingredients (including the dates’ soaking liquid), except chocolate chips, to a food processor (for best results, not a blender) and blend until very smooth.
If you wish, you can use: Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips.
This can be served as a dessert dip, as a spread (maybe in between apple slices or crackers?), eaten with a spoon, mixed into oatmeal, stuffed into cupcakes, or even used to top pancakes!0 -
I love there is this post! I am new to this and have a TERRIBLE sweet tooth - I love chocolate! I don't eat fruit. I don't eat yogurt - so please don't offer me those alternatives. I'm also not one of those people who will 'just have a bite' and be satisfied - that doesn't work for me either. And totally denying myself - makes me crave it more and then I will get 'chocolate drunk'.
Good news? I recently omitted gluten from my diet - mostly because I wanted to, not because I needed to. So I automatically can't eat cookies or cupcakes (this makes me sad) or if I do want them, I have to plan and bake from scratch, which takes time and effort and slows the process down.

I make chocolate balls (lol) which are based on the Nakd raw food bars we get here. It just dates, whatever nuts and other dried fruit I have open at the time, with a small spoon of coconut oil or nut butter and most importantly COCOA. Mmmmmmm
I whizz that all up in a blender and squidge them into balls, stick in a bowl in the fridge. Current batch has been going about a week and a half. I stick one in my packed lunch in the morning. The dates have a lot of sugar, so it is a sweet, but it's got a lot more fibre and good fats than a chocolate bar off the shelf.0 -

I have the same issue. I found GNC Total Lean Lean Shake in orange cream. Add 1 cup skim milk (instead of water) and add some ice while blending and you have a meal replacement that is less than 300 calories but packs 33 grams of protein and tastes exactly like a dreamsicle. So good!
If you have a little bit more time, I've made these before and they've hit the sweet tooth while still helping me meet my nutrition goals.
Pumpkin Cupcakes w/Protein Frosting
Cupcakes:
3 scoops unflavored whey protein powder ( I use GNC Pro Performance Vanilla Whey (25 g protein per scoop))
9 egg whites
3/4 c. organic pumpkin, canned
8 packets Stevia (I actually use Splenda)
9 T. unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa powder
2 t. baking powder
Frosting:
1 c. vanilla whey protein
2 t. cinnamon
2 packets Stevia (Splenda)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). Line 12 cup muffin tin w/paper liners. Combine all cupcake ingredients in a mixing bowl and blend thoroughly (I use a mixer). Divide mixture into muffin tin tins. Bake approx 15 mins or until cooked through. Remove and set aside. Mix all frosting ingredients in a small bowl. Slowly add water and stir until smooth. Spead on cooled cupcakes.
Nutrition: Calories: 210, Total fats: 6 g, sat fat: 1.5 g, trans fat: 0 g, Cholesterol: 30 mg, Sodium: 220 mg, Total carbs: 10 g, dietary fiber: 1 g, sugars: 4 g, Protein: 31 g.
Peanut Butter Protein Cookies
1 egg
1 1/2 c. all natural peanut butter
1 1/2 scoop whey protein powder (unflavored, vanilla or chocolate)
1/2 c. Sucanat (I typically use Splenda but Sucanat - pure dried sugar cane juice - can be found at natural food stores)
1/2 c. almond meal
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, lightly beat egg and then add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Form 12-16 little balls and place on lightly greased or lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 mins. Cool before eating.
