Jillian totally kicked my butt today...

So 2 weeks ago I bought the 30 day shred dvd by Jillian Michaels with the intent of using it this summer. Well, the first week of summer flew by me, we've had something unplanned come up everyday, and today was the first time I got to use it.
And WOW....I mean seriously WOW!
I knew that I wasn't in shape, but I didn't realize I was that out of shape. She totally kicked me to the ground and I swear I heard her laughing at me. But I tell you what...I'm soooooo motivated to do this everyday now. I felt the burn, and I know this will definitely work with me. Here's to hoping that in 30 days, I'm not sprawled out on the ground with Jillian still laughing at me, but instead leaner and kicking butt at those exercises!!!

What tools/equipment do you need to do the workout?0 -
Haha... Jillian has the power to kill even someone who thinks they're in shape. I've just finished Level 2 today and I'll likely start Level 3 tomorrow. I've seen a big difference, especially in my waist and arms. Just push through it and you'll see the results. I've gone from 184 to 177 since starting the Shred, I'll be taking measurements on Friday to see how I've done in the past month, I've done the 30 Day Shred for most of the past month.0

I love it.
The farther along I go doing the Shred, the stronger I feel.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I have!!0 -

Oh you're my new inspiration!!! I was doing Level 1 and thinking, "Are we done yet?"
When she was going on about "no breaks because..." I was like "You're crazy lady!!!" I know this will work though, and so I'm really pumped now. That's the hard part for me...just getting started. I was so intimidated by just listening to her before we even started doing anything. Thank goodness I only have to deal with her through the TV, cause honestly, I think Jillian would make me cry in person. But now that I know what to expect, I think I can handle her. :laugh:0 -

What tools/equipment do you need to do the workout?
You need the video (haha), hand weights (3 and 5's are best or just a couple of cans of soup to start haha like me at first) and a matt if you are working out on a hard surface There is one movement in level one that took me a long time to working up to using weights at all (strength in 3rd circuit) so don't feel bad if you can just follow along with no weights to start. Some exercises i bump up to 7 pounds.0 -

Yeah Jillian kicked my butt yesterday. I've been working out everyday for over a month and it was still tough.0

I am planning on starting 30D shred on Sunday. How often do you do them and when do you change from one level to another. Do you combine them with other exercises because I heare was just 20 minutes per level. Does she have a schedule to follow. Sorry for all the questions. Would appreciate an answer from any one. Thanks0

So today's your big day! So exciting! You'll sweat like a pig and probably swear at the tv but keep going! I've said a few tiimes on this board that the name of the dvd is misleading. So many people think they have to work out for 30 days straight and really that's not true. It's healthy to rest your muscles if they're sore (which they may be in the beginning of each level) and LIFE HAPPENS so you should be able to take a day off without feeling like a failure. A lot of people are set on doing 10 workouts of each level before they move on to the next, but really you should be able to work at your own pace. I've done 6 workouts of level one and am moving on to level 2 today (as soon as I get off this computer). I may have to stay at level 2 longer - we'll see how it goes.
Just keep at it. Modify if you must - definitely! You will find every workout gets a little easier and you will be able to do all the moves eventually so that should be something to keep you going - just knowing that it will get easier, but only if you do it! I can't believe the difference between my first workout and my 6th! I was jumping really high, squatting really low, doing all the moves without stopping "for a sip of water", and didn't feel as winded as I did in the beginning.... although... I still sweat like a pig. That's okay though since it showed me it was still a kickass workout!
Good Luck and Happy Shredding!0 -

love jillian's 30 day shred! it's my favorite home workout right now because it's so *intense* but only 20 minutes! i just joined a gym and started taking zumba and turbokick, so i won't be working out with jillian as much as i was. but i still use it on off days or busy days that i don't make it to the gym - she rocks, and i think she is such a good motivational speaker. by the end of the circuit 3 cardio when she's saying 'your floooaaating of the floor....this is eeeaaaasy for you!' i know i have probably the biggest, scariest, grin on my face because i want to smile but i'm in pain all at the same time!0

you rock 00. could you give me some insight into the food part of what you are doing please
I am spinning at the gym 2 days per week, i walk daily and then come home and to the shred. If i do a long walk 1 1/2 hour around the lake which has lots of hills i don't do anything else.
The food is the main thing, how many calories do you eat and what do you eat. Do you leave any calories a the end of each day?
thank you0 -
Love the shred...finished it once. I still do it at least once a week..now I am doing Last Chance Workout. It's amazing..0

I finally started 30D shred on Sunday and I am loving it. Jillian is such a motivational trainer. She will make you sweat a lot and at the end you feel very proud of yourself.0
