TDEE

So question for the masses...

Is it better to eat at a slight deficit of your tdee to lose weight or is it better to eat at your tdee and create a deficit with your exercise?

What I've heard/seen works best is to set your activity level to include your exercise and eat at a deficit. So TDEE - 20%

    You can do either really.

As long as you're creating a deficit you'll lose weight.

If your exercise is included in your TDEE eat your TDEE - 20%

If you're exercise is not included in your TDEE add in your exercise calories, eat at maintenance, and don't eat back the calories. ALthough I would like to stress the word MODERATE here. Don't burn 1100 calories and then not eat them back. I would say keep it at the 250- 300 calorie range.

The T part of TDEE stands for Total, so already includes your exercise calories, so yes, just eat at a defict from TDEE.
