I am a recent convert to almond butter - less seems to go further and it seems somehow less addictive so I am able to stop myself after 1tbsp.
A great snack:
- slice of ezekiel sprouted bread (80kcal)
- 1 tbsp Justin's Almond Butter (100kcal)
- 0.5 banana (50-60kcal)
TOTAL: 230kcal

I totally love peanut butter more than almond butter, but I agree almond butter is less addicting!0

I take fresh almond butter, dump it into my mixer, add a splash of honey and some cinnamon, and mix it up. This concoction is amazing. I can't hardly stay out of it.0

Almond butter is no comparison to peanut butter. One is yummy, the other not so much. PB is yummo, almond butter is healthier.0

Depends on what I'm using it for. Almond butter is sweeter to me so it seems to be best on its own or with dark chocolate. Peanut butter works better with milk chocolate, or with spicy savory flavors.0

PB hands down. I did discover i like sunflower seed butter too. kinda different.0

I love both - and if you buy the FRESH peanut butter (all natural) from whole foods or other places - its peanuts ONLY. I go to Whole Foods and i grind my own organic fresh peanuts and it spreads a looooooooooot further than ANY jarred PB i've ever tried.
they also have a machine to grind fresh almonds for the same thing and it definitely spreads far also.0 -
sunflower butter is great! But nothing beats old fashioned PB0

I love peanut butter, but was informed by a doctor/nutritionist that the body can more easily process almond butter.0

Choosing between those two, peanut butter for sure. I don't like almond butter.
But cashew butter if my favourite.0 -
I am yet to try Almond Butter. I grew up on PB and loved it so so much but now for one reason or another have built up an intolerance to peanuts which gives me painful indigestion.
Might go ahead and buy some Almond Butter. Any idea if it is better for you than Cashew Nut butter?0 -
I love them both, especially on an Ezekial Cinnamon Raisin English Muffin.0

Addicted to peanut butter!0

i work across the street from the Fisher nut factory, and in their outlet store, they have mutliple grinders set up to make your own pb, almond butter, cashew butter and mixed nut butter. they've also got a honey machine, so you can add that in too. my favorite place to get the really, really fresh stuff.
i have no idea which is healthier tho.0 -
If I don't want to grab a serving spoonful and head for te couch to watch TV, then I would choose ALMOND butter. It is Richer, and a more PURE taste. It lasts longer for me also.
Nutella, on the other hand, is not even allowed to enter my house. I literally cannot stay away from the jar, and I end up getting sick from all the fat. (Gallstones). I started eating it in the late 1980's when i was "visiting" Germany. I would trade regular P.Butter for it. The Germans LOVED our P.Butter, and would trade for it...OOPS, black market secrets...like Levi's, Marlboro cigarettes for Hash..uh, Herbs...:noway: .0 -
Peanut butter only cuase I don't like almonds0

Peanut butter. But I'm pretty sure the almond butters I've tried were all made without salt, so if I can find one with salt in it I might give it another shot.0

This!
PB melts better and is more spreadable, but I honestly prefer the taste of almond butter to peanut butter.0 -

"Better for you" is in the eye of the beholder.0 -
I gotta throw my hat into the Peanut Butter ring.... Almond butter is ok but no comparison to PB........0

Peanut butter. Adam's organic crunchy peanut butter to be exact. For some reason I can't stand the texture of almond butter.0

Almond butter, but sunflower seed butter is even better. On toast with sliced apples. . . delicious. I eat it as a meal OR dessert!0

I made my own nut butter last night for the first time ever and all I can say is I am NEVER buying it from the store ever ever ever again!!! It was so easy and the results were amazing! Tastes just like the Justin's Maple Almond butter. I look forward to polishing off this jar soon & experimenting with adding unsweetened cocoa powder next time!
Cashew/Almond Butter
1 cup salted, roasted (no oils) cashews (Planter's Natural Harvest)
1 cup raw almonds
2-3 teaspoons coconut oil
1-2 medjool dates, pitted & chopped
1/4 tsp salt
1. Process nuts in bowl of food processor until a fine grain (I used my Cuisnart MINI chopper, a bit taxing on the motor, but it held up!)
2. Add salt and process. Add date(s) and coconut oil (one tsp at a time).
3. Scrape down sides of bowl and continue processing until desired consistency is reached. Add additional coconut oil as desired.
4. Place finished nut butter in glass jar with tight fitting lid & store in refrigerator. Will keep 1-2 weeks.
yield: 11 oz
serving size: 1 oz

Other ideas are to add vanilla and/or cinnamon to one batch and then unsweetened cocoa powder to another. I'll be trying both of these with my next batch!0
