When do you workout? Currently I am working out at night after kids go to bed since i'm not a morning person. I've heard that you shouldn't workout so close to bed time (interrupts sleep etc.. ).. Any thoughts on this??

I think the best time to workout is when you are able to work out.0

i would love to work our in the morning, but not a morning person and do not want to wake up at 4:45am to do so
so i work out right after work at 4pm0 -

I agree.
Also, if it interfered with sleep for you, you'd know it. I'm a morning person, and I need at least 5 hours between workout and sleep - I just can't quiet down to sleep. If thats not happening to you, you're good.0 -

^ Agreed. I work out after work because I am not a morning person and will kill someone if I have to wake up at 4am to workout before work.0 -
My workout time is first thing when I get home.
But our exercise equipment (elliptical & weight bench) are in our uninsulated garage... that faces south and west.
I think in the late spring/summer I'll have to get up early to exercise, simply because otherwise it will be way too hot.0 -
On weeknights immediately when I get home from work. On weekends whenever I can fit it in.0

Wok out when you will do it consistently. If it doesn't interrupt your sleeping, keep you up, etc., then go for it at night. I know I won't always do it at night because life can get in the way. So, I get up at 4:15 (well, my alarm goes off at 4:15....) and workout in the am. I've done it consistently (missing only when really sick or on vacation) for almost 2 years now. It works for me.0

i sometimes workout both mornings and evenings0

Whenever is convenient and consistent for you is what will work long-term.
I personally used to train at night, and was NEVER consistent...off and on for years.
In the past 6 months I started training in the mornings before work and I RARELY miss a workout now.
Turns out it's easier for me in the mornings because I am not worn out from my workday, and I'm not making excuses that I would rather be home with my family (they are all still asleep when I leave in the AM).
Find what works for you, and do it.0 -
Afternoon or evening. I've been known to run outside at 9 p.m. or hop on my bike trainer after 10 p.m. on busy nights, though. The workout usually leaves me so tired I'm instantly asleep.0

I can't fit a full 2-hours workout into any one time slot so I ride once in the morning and then again at lunch or after work.0

Every morning for me and sometimes I squeeze in an afternoon workout. I said I was going to start doing insanity in the evenings but I have to wait until my back is feeling better before I let insanity break it lol
At any rate your workout should be done during a time when you can be consistent. I get up every morning at 4:30a to do my workout, then shower at the gym and head into work. I normally take time out during lunch and get a work out in but thats not consistent so at least I know that I got my work out in the morning so if I get too busy and miss one during lunch time I'm not as concerned.0
