Keep failing, feel like giving up :(

I have done well for the past few months with eating a healthy balanced diet and doing lots of exercise. I am a lot fitter now and have lost 9 pounds, but for the past few days my motivation has gone and I have ended up eating a lot more than I should.
I am so close to just giving up completely, even though I really want to lose the weight I just feel so down and fed up I just don't know what to do.
Fed up fed up fed up!!

but you joined mpf just this month and your other post is a question about tdee.... why did you join here? to give up or to help yourself?0

Maybe it's time to change it up a bit. If your workouts are boring, try something else! Take a dance class, do interval training, heavy weight lifting, swimming, hiking, cycling, whatever. Something that will at least get you a little more excited to go to the gym/start your workout.
Same goes for food. Find a healthy recipe online and try to recreate it. Do this once a week. Eating the same things and doing the same workouts over and over again can be really tedious for some people. Try making little changes. You got this0 -
Forgive me for being so bold to ask but is it your 'time of the month'? My emotions would go crazy during that time with lots of irrational thoughts such as I have no friends, I'm fat, why bother with anything I'm gonna die someday anyway, etc. Took me a long time to put 2 and 2 together. Once I did I just knew the next time it happened that I would be feeling right as rain in a few days.
Don't quit now! You are doing great!!!0 -
I joined to help myself.
I have eaten more than I should have today, which is why I asked about TDEE, because I tend to eat less than 1200 calories then end up binging because I haven't eaten enough, I asked so I know how many calories I am able to have and still lose weight.
What I'm doing at the moment isn't working, because I am eating too little then eating too much, so I need to know about BMR and TDEE to work out a plan that is going to help me, and not going to make me want to give in.0 -
drop the temporary diet mentality. What are you ready to give up on exactly? Your health? That makes no sense! You're beautiful!0

the general advice here is to eat a little protein with each meal, and you might want to try eating smaller meals more often. its not going to be easy, but you can do it. you are not alone, being here you will find lots of support. stick with us for a few months, dont give up just yet! even if you do feel like it, a week from now you wont feel any better unless you keep trying.0

I do the same thing
EVERY WEEKEND! Back on Monday full force. Just do it girl!0 -
The only way to fail is to give up. You're just having bumps in the road, but sometimes we learn by making mistakes. The good thing is that you are recognizing what you're doing wrong. All thats left is fixing it. Congrats on you loss thus far and I hope you continue.
Here's a link to another thread on here about tdee http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-120 -
You are living my life. I always eat too much and then binge. I've been better recently by trying to spread my meals out more through the day (maybe 3 meals and 3 snacks). Also I try to not waste calories on any drinks - only water or tea or the occasional diet soda (I know it's bad but I treat myself). Usually when I feel like binge-ing it's at night and I just try to go to bed. Stay with it. I think most of us feel like giving up a lot. Hell if I could eat whatever I wanted with no consequences then I'd bring out the pizza and chips this instant.0

That's great! I'm glad you're taking steps to learn about coming up with a healthy plan that you can sustain. Do you have a reason for wanting to get healthier? Some people think of kids, grandkids, avoiding family history of illness, etc. Maybe having something to focus on as a reminder might help. Also, find some exercise you enjoy and enlist a friend to get active with you! You can do this!0 -
Thanks all for your support, I really really appreciate it. It makes it feel like I'm not alone.
You are all very right.
Thinking about it now, quitting = feeling like this forever. Not quitting = feeling like this today
Tomorrow is another day I guess,
Thanks guys, xoxo0 -
if you give up you may end up feeling worst, maybe you had a bad day or a bad week, everybody has them, but you push forward and don't settle for less than what you deserve. :flowerforyou:0

Anytime you need support, someone is here for you. You can do this! I think we all feel similar feelings at some point. Each day is a new day and you can start fresh. Good luck to you and always feel like you can come to us for support and help. That's what's so great about this place. *hugs*0

My reason for wanting to get healthier is just to feel good in my own skin, and I will be a student nurse in April so I need to be healthy and fit in order to study and do those long hours in the hospital!0 -
We all get "stuck" sometimes. Look at each day as a new beginning. I think when the new behavior is becoming "habit" (a good thing) is when you're most likely to feel this way. It's a hump we all have to get over.0

Hey Sweetie,
We've all felt that way at one point or another. You want this and you CAN do it! It's hard but, with a great support system, good attitude, and a will to keep going forward you'll be just fine. I went through this recently and came out on the other end....still plugging away. If you want to add me as a friend for motivation and support, please feel free to do so0 -
Okay this is an easy trap to fall in especially around the holidays. The best advice I can give you is to go out and buy a low carb protein shake mix. (best is optimum Nutrition check out bodybuilding.com) This is a healthy alternative to sweets and Junk Food because of the fact that it comes in all sorts of junk food flavors, but its still good for you i.e Vannila Shake, Double Chocolate Fudge etc. Since your a woman drink it with soy milk (soy milk increases estrogen levels which is GREAT!! for women and the soy makes the shake GREAT TASTING!!!) to make your protien shakes taste even better mix some fresh fruit in. Now you should drink your protien on the days you train usually right before and right after you workout. take ONE SCOOP EA Shake!!!
The reason i'm telling you all of this is because protien goes straight to the muscles, it feeds them. the more lean muscle you have the faster your metabolism the faster your metabolism the more fat your body burns. just be careful!!! make sure your exercising regularly and also PROTIEN DOES NOT MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A MAN!!! its good for you!! and also when those cravings come make sure you also eat plenty of fruit Grapefruit is GREAT!! for your metabolisim!! also Granny smith apples are great natural Fat burrners
As for not wanting to exercise remember this "someone somewhere is training harder better faster and stronger to Defeat you
EMBRACE THE SUCK!!! Take some ADVIL when you get up and go to the gym Success will no longer be an option for you...its a must. GET SOME!! SSGT METBOY0
