Sodium

Wow !!! I noticed my hands were a little swollen so I went into my food diary to see how much sodium I had today....It wasn't in my diary..sooo I added it and was SHOOOCKED at how much sodium I had!!! I went over by 1,300 grams!!!! The most came from 1 cup of can green beans!!!! (Didn't have salt free in pantry) Goood grief. I am now afraid to weigh tomorrow, because of water retention. Everyone beware... Man does it add up quickly! I am thankful the other days I did not go over.

Yep, I hear ya. I monitor my sodium all the time. MFP has me set to be allowed to have 2500mg a day, but I try my best to half that and not go above 1300. I noticed that as soon as I started watching my sodium intake my weight start dropping off way way easier,, so I'm absolutely certain that plays a big factor in my weight issues! Definately watching my sodium from here on out!0

Plus, drinking water, green tea, fennell tea, and other non-caloric, and non-sodium, drinks helps to flush all that sodium out. Plus, many times, when we think we are hungry, we are merely thirsty for water.

I've also read that rinsing canned food helps get rid of some of the soduim . . . for next time . . .0

I notice when I eat sodium the next day my weight can be up almost 5 lbs. Then it takes about 2 to 3 days to go back down. I have also started tracking my sodium. I eat lots of salads and those are fine but the salad dressings contain lots of sodium. I think I will look for some sodium free dressing or make my own.0
